The group that had been chatting away suddenly fell silent and looked up, even Nancy couldn’t resist raising
her head.
Striding towards them was a tall, handsome man with chestnut hair, the epitome of classic European charm. His features were striking, and his emerald green eyes held an air of mystery.
“Mr. Potter, are you always this quick on your feet?” someone joked with a chuckle.
Potter laughed easily, replying, “Absolutely. You guys can envy all you want.”
With that, he made his way directly to Nancy.
“Miss Lena, as soon as Lenard recommended you, I was all in. But I didn’t expect Neil to leak your initial concepts. Now everyone’s scrambling to work with you. You don’t mind, do you? I’m really looking forward to finalizing the contract with you in three days.”
Nancy couldn’t help but smile, “Of course, I should be thanking you, Mr. Potter, for the opportunity.”
“It’s my pleasure,” Potter replied, extending his hand.
Nancy didn’t hesitate, reaching out to shake Potter’s hand.
But as soon as their hands touched, Potter looked concerned and asked, “Miss Lena, your hand is burning up. Are you running a fever?”
Nancy’s fingers tensed for a moment. Suddenly, a wave of inexplicable heat surged from deep within her, leaving her throat parched and her skin tingling as if she had walked barefoot on hot coals.
This wasn’t a fever–it felt more like she’d been drugged.
Her pupils constricted sharply, and she quickly withdrew her hand, “Mr. Potter, I need to excuse myself for a
moment.”
Potter nodded slightly, not bothered in the least, “If you’re not feeling well, Miss Lena, I can drive you home.”
“No need for that. I just need a moment,” Nancy replied coolly, turning towards the restroom.
Watching Nancy’s slightly unsteady steps, Potter couldn’t help but notice how flushed her face was, even the tip of her nose was red, and there was a glistening sheen in her eyes…
His heart raced, and a faint blush spread across his cheeks. He couldn’t help it, because Miss Lena was the
most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.
Upstairs, Michael commented shrewdly, “Judson, I think Potter has ulterior motives. Did you see how he looked at your girl…”
Before he could finish, Judson stood up, his face dark and stormy.
“What’s wrong?” Michael immediately sensed something was off.
Judson, recalling Nancy’s expression as she left, spoke with a steely edge, “Nancy didn’t look right. Find out what she’s eaten or drunk.”
Michael’s eyes widened in shock, taking a full two seconds to process. But before he could respond, Judson was already heading in the direction Nancy had gone.
Something was definitely wrong.
Nancy felt like she was burning up, sweat beading on her forehead, each step more agonizing than the last.
It was like walking barefoot over hot embers.

In that moment, she wished she could lose all sense of reason, yearning for… a man.
The thought startled her, compelling her to move faster toward the restroom.
In a panic, Nancy twisted the faucet on, plunging her face into the icy water. The sharp cold washed over her skin, giving her a fleeting sense of calm.
She stayed there for a solid minute before lifting her head to confront her flushed, disheveled reflection.
Who? Who would drug her?
Before she could fully regain her composure, a shadow loomed behind her in the mirror.
A voice, dripping with malice, taunted, “Lena, how does it feel to be drugged?”
