Chapter 149
Cyrus stood there, frozen, staring at Nancy, whose face was as serious as a heart attack–no hint of a joke. anywhere.
A strange unease gnawed at his heart.
His smile was faltering, barely holding on, as he forced it to stay in place.
“Nancy, I get that you’re not happy with me at the moment. I know whatever I do might not be enough for your forgiveness right now, but that’s okay. I’m going to prove my commitment to you.”
Judson furrowed his brows, eyes filled with an intensity that could cut through steel.
Nancy couldn’t hold it in any longer. “…Disgusting.”
“Come on, Nancy, don’t let it get to you,” Judson said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, his cold gaze flicking to Cyrus like he was some bug under a magnifying glass.
“Some people are just thick–headed. You can talk all day, and they still won’t get it. Let’s get to work.”
Nancy didn’t resist, walking away with Judson.
Watching them leave, Cyrus‘ face darkened like a storm cloud, especially after Judson’s taunting look.
The tension in the air was palpable.
Caleb couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. Gordon, are you alright? Mrs. Whitmore is just too kind–hearted; that’s why she took Judson in. Plus, memory loss can twist things around. They aren’t really in love.”
“That doesn’t matter!” Cyrus clenched his fists, “Didn’t you see Judson with his arm around Nancy?”
Back when he and Nancy weren’t married, holding hands was as far as they’d go.
Judson hadn’t even known Nancy for more than a few days, and there he was, already putting his arm around
her.
Caleb fell silent. He’d seen it, alright. He’d even heard Judson call her ‘honey‘ last night. But he wouldn’t dare say that out loud. No matter how much of a jerk Cyrus might be, his paycheck was still the best.
The more Cyrus thought about it, the angrier he got. “Have you found any info on Judson yet?”
“N–no progress yet,” Caleb replied cautiously, afraid of provoking Cyrus.
Cyrus‘ expression grew even darker. “Hurry up and find something. Once we locate his family, we’re sending
Judson back to them.”
There was no way he was going to let another man live with his woman. Although Judson might have amnesia, he was still a grown man. What if he tried something with Nancy?
Damn it, Nancy was just too naive! Did she really have to take care of Judson just to repay a favor?
Cyrus felt more and more uneasy, like something was spiraling out of control. “Drive me over there.”
Meanwhile, in a fast–moving car, Judson glanced at Nancy, who looked rather upset.
“Nancy, are you still thinking about your ex?”
Nancy’s fingers paused, and she turned to see Judson’s glum expression. “Keep your eyes on the road, no wandering eyes.”
“But I can’t help it. He looks like he’s got a screw loose or something.”
Judson wasn’t done, his hand gripping the steering wheel tightly. “Nancy, you guys broke up, yet he keeps clinging on, didn’t appreciate you when he had the chance, and now he regrets losing you?”
“What does he take you for? The guy’s a total jerk!”

Nancy listened to Judson’s indignant rant, her face calm. “That’s why I don’t want him anymore.”
“But now he’s chased you all the way to Willow Creek, even bought the villa next door. He thinks you’ll forgive him,” Judson said, getting more upset by the minute.
“Nancy, between me and that jerk, who do you like more?”
She looked at Judson, who had an anxious expression on his face, his eyes filled with hope.
She didn’t like either of them.
Nancy answered silently in her heart, but she feared saying it out loud would make Judson burst into tears.
