Cyrus sat in his car, his expression as dark as the sky before a thunderstorm. He dialed a number without hesitation and, as soon as the call connected, he started talking, not letting the person on the other end get a
word in.
“Baldrick, do Michael and Judson know each other? Has Judson gotten his memory back?”
Baldrick, on the other end, was momentarily surprised by Cyrus‘ barrage of questions but quickly regained his
composure.
“Why should I tell you anything about that?”
Cyrus was visibly fuming. “Baldrick, do you really want someone shady hanging around Nancy?”
“So, you’ve had a run–in with Judson,” Baldrick said, hitting the nail on the head. He’d had dealings with Judson before and knew he wasn’t someone to be underestimated.
Judson must have really gotten under Cyrus‘ skin to make him this upset.
Cyrus could hear the smugness in Baldrick’s voice, which only added fuel to his fire. “Are you enjoying this, Baldrick? Me clashing with Judson?”
“Absolutely. You and Judson are both rivals of mine,” Baldrick replied sharply. “Cyrus, if I were you, I wouldn’t have made this call. You think I don’t know that you propped up that idiot Farley to join The Robertson Group?” “Cyrus, our brotherhood’s long gone. As for whether Judson and Michael know each other, find out yourself.”
With that, Baldrick hung up the call, not giving Cyrus a chance to retort.
Cyrus cursed under his breath as the dial tone droned in his ear.
Meanwhile…
Baldrick looked at the stack of documents on his desk, his mood as dark as a rain–soaked afternoon. Every contract that idiot Farley had signed was full of pitfalls. You’d think he’d have at least a smidge of common sense, but no, he was hopeless.
And now Cyrus had the audacity to call him, inquiring if Judson had regained his memory? He decided to let Cyrus find out the hard way.
There was a rhythmic knock on the door.
A moment later, Baldrick’s assistant entered. “Mr. Robertson, Miss Hayley is here, insisting to see you. She says she won’t leave otherwise, and Ms. Grant is a public figure.”
If word got out that their CEO was bullying Miss Hayley, it could be a PR nightmare.
Baldrick’s expression was unreadable as he nodded. “Let her in.”
The assistant nodded and left the room.
Ten minutes later, Hayley walked in, her face set in a grimace.
The assistant glanced at Baldrick, who casually waved him off. “You can go now.”
“Yes, sir.” The assistant slipped out silently, closing the door behind him.
Now, it was just Baldrick and Hayley in the spacious office.
Baldrick fixed his sharp gaze on Hayley, his voice icy. “Say what you need to say.”
“Mr. Robertson, I demand that you bring Cyrus back,” Hayley said, her face contorted with emotion.

The thought of Cyrus and Nancy together filled her with dread.
Demand?
Baldrick’s lips curled into a sardonic smile. “Hayley, who gave you the gall to order me around?”
A menacing aura radiated from him, chilling the room.
Hayley stared into Baldrick’s dark eyes, fear gnawing at her, but she stood her ground.
“Mr. Robertson, I know you can get Cyrus back. If you refuse, I’ll have no choice but to go to Nancy and tell her you introduced me to Norton.”
