Chapter 205
The first dress was a dreamy blue evening gown, its hem embroidered with delicate white jewels. The straps sparkled with tiny diamonds, and pearls crisscrossed the chest, lazily winding around the waist.
But now, in front of them, was a rich burgundy velvet evening gown. The front was designed with sheer fabric, and the back was open, held together by a chain of tiny diamonds cascading down from the neckline.
The real showstopper was the model on the sketch adorned with an emerald hairpin–a hint of green that was simply the cherry on top.
Two completely different styles, yet the second one radiated a more sophisticated aura.
Nancy chuckled softly, “This is what I’ve been working on these past few days. What do you think?”
“I thought your first draft was breathtaking, but this second version is on another level,” Potter admitted sincerely, snapping out of his reverie a moment earlier than the others.
Lenard couldn’t help but marvel, “We need someone who can match the elegance of this dress.”
“That’s not the challenge; the challenge is creating something worthwhile,” Nancy said with a gentle smile.
Lenard raised an eyebrow, exchanging a knowing glance with Potter, and both of them broke into laughter.
Just then, the door burst open, and a blonde woman rushed in, looking frantic. “Boss, we’ve got a situation!”
Potter frowned slightly at the sight of his frazzled assistant. “Jenny, take a deep breath.”
Aware of Miss Lena’s presence, Jenny struggled to keep her composure. “Mr. Potter, the agents of Nora and Penny are fighting backstage. You need to handle this, now!”
“What?” Potter’s expression changed in an instant. He jumped up and dashed out of the room.
“Mr. Potter, wait for me!” Jenny hurried after him. Even Lenard couldn’t help but frown at the news.
“Let’s check it out. Penny is an international award–winning actress, and Nora is the hottest rising star backed
by major investors,” Lenard suggested.
Nancy gave a slight nod, and they both headed out.
After Nancy and Lenard left, the door creaked open again. A shadowy figure slipped in, quickly snapping photos of the designs laid out on the table, and then dialed a number.
“Miss Sarah, I’ve got what you wanted. Don’t forget the reward you promised.”
A cold voice came through the phone. “Don’t worry, I’ll wire three million to your account.”
At the same moment, Sarah looked at the designs sent to her, a twisted smile spreading across her face.
She needed just three million dollars to ruin Nancy’s reputation. She was eager to see how Nancy would fight
back.
Backstage, Nancy and Lenard had just entered and hadn’t even settled in when a haughty voice rang out, “Who does Penny think she is? Her time is over. I’m the girlfriend of the CEO of Evergreen Global!”
There was an audible gasp from the crowd.
The CEO of Evergreen Global! A member of the prestigious Green family, nonetheless!
Nancy kept her composure, observing the tall young woman surrounded by a crowd. Opposite her stood a plump woman in her forties, a clear handprint visible on her cheek.
The plump woman, Deanna, was clearly upset. “Nora, even if you’re with him, you can’t just snatch the showstopper dress.”
“Why not? I’m much younger than Penny, and the future is mine,” Nora sneered. “Deanna, believe me when I say
