As Nora continued her tirade, Judson’s face turned stone cold. “Have you lost your mind?” he snapped.
Nora, startled by Judson’s sudden anger, took a step back. Even Lenard couldn’t hide his fury. “Do you have a death wish or something?”
Nora glanced defiantly at Nancy, clearly not backing down. “Am I wrong? You clearly just-”
Before she could finish her sentence with those damning words, a sharp slap interrupted her.
Nancy’s hand had struck Nora’s cheek forcefully, leaving her stunned. The sharp sting on her face quickly fueled her anger. “Who the hell do you think you-” But before she could spill more venom, Nancy’s hand struck again. This time, she grabbed Nora by the collar and yanked her forward, forcing their eyes to meet.
“You little-” Nora started, ready to lash out, but her gaze locked onto Nancy’s icy stare. The cold, unyielding look in Nancy’s eyes made her words evaporate.
Nancy’s voice was eerily calm as she spoke, “If you can’t speak like a civilized person, Nora, I’m more than willing to teach you some manners for free.” The warning in her voice was clear as day, and it sent a shiver down Nora’s spine, as if she’d been doused with ice water. But then she remembered her own backing.
“You dare hit me? Aren’t you afraid I’ll have Mr. Grey end your career?” she threatened, clinging to her imagined
power.
Judson, however, was unfazed. “I’d like to see him try,” he said flatly, his gaze as deadly as a predator’s, promising swift retribution.
Nora’s confidence faltered and fear crept in for the first time. Who exactly was this man?
The tension in the room was palpable when suddenly a voice broke through, dripping with amused anger. “Nora, did you leave a handprint on Deanna’s face?”
Everyone turned to see a woman enter, her features striking and carrying a hint of age, yet she still possessed a timeless beauty.
Penny.
Nancy met Penny’s gaze, a silent acknowledgment passing between them before Penny’s focus shifted back to Nora.
“So what if I did?” Nora shrieked, her voice rising hysterically. “Penny, your time is over! If you know what’s good for you, you’ll step aside, or else—”
“Or else what? You’ll have Mr. Grey ruin me?” Penny mocked, her tone dripping with disdain, clearly unbothered by Nora’s threats.
Nora hesitated, caught off guard by Penny’s scornful look. “You’re scared now, aren’t you?”
“Oh, I’m petrified,” Penny replied dryly, her sarcasm unmistakable. “I’m just an old relic compared to your youthful beauty.”
With that, Penny turned her attention to Michael.
“Mr. Ferguson, I’m part of your team, yet here Nora assaults a member of The Ferguson Group and even threatens to ruin me. Looks like Mr. Grey’s trying to take a dump on your authority.”
Nancy remained composed, as did Michael, who seemed unfazed by the drama.
However, the rest of the room was taken aback. No one expected the usually graceful Penny to speak so bluntly.
