Chapter 31
Cyrus paused, his finger freezing in mid–motion. He had been in the midst of a kiss with Hayley when the phone rang, but he hadn’t picked up.
His expression turned colder. “Next time I don’t pick up, come in and let me know in advance.”
Caleb was silent before quickly nodding, “Understood.”
Was being intimate with Hayley in the office that important? Cyrus used to be all about his work. But it was hard to tell which version of Mr. Gordon was real.
Just then, a figure rushed into Cyrus‘ arms.
In a sweet voice, she exclaimed, “Cyrus, are you going to put me on ice?”
At that moment, Nancy quietly shut the office door.
The thought of Cyrus being openly affectionate with Hayley in the office made her think, ‘Well, that’s good. They don’t even need to make it official now!‘
Thank goodness Cyrus hadn’t closed the door properly, or she wouldn’t have witnessed this scene.
Observing Nancy’s cold demeanor, Wilma said thoughtfully, “Nancy, come here. I need to talk to you.”
Cyrus looked down at Hayley, who had flung herself into his arms, and quickly glanced at the closed office door. Frowning, he said, “Who said you could jump on me like that? Get up and stand properly.”
“Cyrus!” Hayley’s eyes welled with tears. “Don’t you love me anymore?”
Cyrus‘ face fell. “What did you just say?”
Realizing her mistake, Hayley started to backpedal.
Cyrus pushed her away, his handsome face clouding over with displeasure. “Have I spoiled you so much that you’ve forgotten your place? Remember, you’re nothing but a secret that can’t see the light of day.”
Hayley was speechless.
When watching her pale face, Cyrus‘ eyes hardened. “Hayley, don’t get too greedy. If you dare bring this up before Nancy, you’ll see what happens!”
His voice was cold, his presence overwhelming. Even the air seemed to thicken.
Realizing Cyrus wasn’t joking, Hayley couldn’t help but tremble, “Yes, Mr. Gordon, I understand…”
“Good. Caleb will contact your agent to take you back.” Cyrus‘ tone was dismissive.
From day one, he had made it clear to Hayley that their relationship was transactional. He could boost her career, but she shouldn’t harbor illusions about them.
Ironically, Nancy’s reluctance drove him into Hayley’s arms.
Soon, her agent escorted Hayley out, not daring to say anything.
After she left, Cyrus suddenly remembered the contract still in his office. “Wait here for me,” he said before turning toward the office.
Nancy walked up to Wilma, who took her hand and asked with a probing tone, “Nancy, do you think Hayley has feelings for Cyrus?”
Nancy understood Wilma was testing whether she knew Cyrus‘ affair with Hayley!
Stopping at the door, Cyrus held his breath.

Soon, Nancy responded with a smile, “Wilma, Cyrus is handsome and wealthy. It’s normal if Hayley likes him, but I trust Cyrus wouldn’t betray me.”
She smoothly added, “Besides, Cyrus sald Hayley is with Norton, and she’s even carrying Norton’s child. So, whether Hayley likes him or not doesn’t matter: Cyrus knows his boundaries, and we love each other deeply”
Wilma was shocked!
Her heart was in turmoil, though she tried to maintain her composure before Nancy, her smile slightly strained. “Nancy, you’re right. Besides, you saved my life in that car accident before you and Cyrus were together. If it weren’t for you, I would have bled to death. You’re a hero to our family!”
