Nancy hummed, “Yeah, it’s been a while since I’ve dressed up.”
Baldrick noticed Nancy’s sour mood, especially when he saw the dark circles under her eyes, hinting he might have guessed something. Nancy must have had a row with Cyrus.
Changing the topic, Baldrick stood up with a smile. “Let’s head to the party then. Traffic’s a bit of a nightmare today.”
An hour later, as Baldrick escorted Nancy into the venue, they drew everyone’s attention.
“Goodness, Mr. Robertson brought a knockout to this birthday bash. And I was hoping to introduce my sister to Mr. Robertson.”
“Doesn’t that stunner look familiar? Wait, isn’t that Mrs. Gordon?”
“And where’s Mr. Gordon? He didn’t bring Mrs. Gordon himself but let Mr. Robertson do the honors? I get it. Mr. Gordon wants it all.”
The last comment sent a wave of knowing laughter through the group, their gazes toward Nancy filled with mockery and amusement.
Feeling their stares, Nancy looked around, confused, until she saw Cyrus and Hayley dancing in the ballroom to the beats of a booming song.
With Hayley in a red evening gown, looking as stunning as a scarlet rose and moving seductively like a serpent, especially with those inviting eyes fixed on Cyrus, Nancy watched, expressionless, It explained why everyone looked at her as if she were a joke.
Cyrus wasn’t holding back, was he?
Baldrick frowned. “Cyrus can’t stay out of trouble, can he? Hayley nearly miscarried, and he still brings her here.”
Turning to Nancy, he added, “I’m sorry, Nancy. I had no idea Cyrus would bring Hayley.”
“It’s Cyrus and Hayley’s decision to come. Why apologize?” Nancy’s tone was calm, her demeanor unflustered.
Baldrick fell silent. Anyway, Nancy was upset.
“Nancy, what are you doing here? And with Baldrick?” Norton’s voice sounded panicky as he approached from a corner. “‘ll get Cyrus here right away.”
As Norton was about to leave, Nancy coldly said, “Norton, aren’t you worried? With Hayley carrying your child and dancing so closely with Cyrus, she might not choose you.”
Hearing Nancy’s words, Norton turned, baffled, “Hayley’s baby is mine?”
As Norton stood there, dumbfounded, a deep, cold voice interrupted, “Norton, are you drunk without even having a drink?”
The crowd looked up to see Cyrus approaching with Hayley.
Noticing Cyrus‘ warning gaze, Norton quickly reassured Nancy, “Nancy, you’re overthinking it. Hayley’s carrying my child. How could there be anything between her and Cyrus?”
Nancy replied coldly. “Is that so?”
Her response was short yet dripping with sarcasm, but she didn’t require Norton’s answer. Cyrus interjected sharply, “Nancy, what’s that supposed to mean? You can be Baldrick’s date, but I can’t dance with Hayley?”
He couldn’t have missed her arrival with Baldrick.
The atmosphere turned tense Instantly, and even the air felt cooler.

Baldrick suddenly chuckled, but his laughter was chilling, “Cyrus, you don’t get why Nancy agreed to be my
date?”
Realizing the misunderstanding, Cyrus glared at Baldrick, “Nancy and I aren’t divorced yet. You’ll never have her In this lifetime.”
His presence was imposing, and he unintentionally raised his voice.
The onlookers heard Cyrus‘ statement, yet no one dared to divert their gaze toward the trio. They were no fools and knew the consequences of getting involved in Cyrus and Baldrick’s drama.
Upon hearing Cyrus‘ words, Baldrick’s temper flared.
Just as Nancy was about to intervene, Baldrick suddenly turned to Norton. ‘Norton, tell me, what’s Ogden’s reputation in the industry?”
