Chapter 40
Scream shattered the air.
“Ah! Mrs. Gordon pushed Cyrus‘ date down the stairs!”
“Oh my God, is that girl pregnant? Why is there so much blood?”
Cyrus and Baldrick didn’t waste a moment on words before they sprinted outside.
They found Hayley surrounded by a crowd, lying on the ground, her face ghostly pale, blood pooling around her. And there was Nancy, standing on the second floor, watching the chaos with a cold gaze.
“Nancy, what the hell are you doing? How could you do this? You’re a murderer!” Cyrus pushed through the crowd, lifting the nearly unconscious, pain–stricken Hayley, glaring at Nancy with a twisted face.
Nancy remained indifferent, responding to Cyrus‘ accusation, “It’s Norton’s child. Why are you so worried sick?”
Cyrus was livid. “You!”
“Enough bickering. Let’s get Hayley to the hospital,” Norton stepped in, cutting them off just in time.
Grinding his teeth, Cyrus shot Nancy one last furious look before leaving with Hayley in his arms.
Once Cyrus and Hayley were out of sight, Baldrick quickly dispersed the crowd, ending the party prematurely, and took Nancy’s cold hands in his. “Nancy, I know you’re not that kind of person. Did Hayley jump herself? rll check the cameras…”
Just as Baldrick was about to turn away, Nancy caught his hand. “Baldrick, do me one more favor…”
Seeing how pale Nancy looked, he felt a weight in his heart and nodded earnestly, “Okay, go ahead.”
Hayley nearly lost her baby and had to undergo surgery.
Hayley opened her eyes tremblingly when Cyrus entered the hospital room. “Cyrus, Nancy didn’t mean it. Please don’t be mad.”
“Why did Nancy push you?” Cyrus asked with a dark expression, demanding the truth.
After hesitating, Hayley replied softly, “I asked Nancy to cut ties with Baldrick, and she didn’t want to…”
Cyrus paused, then laughed sarcastically. So, Nancy was going to go that far for Baldrick?
Cyrus took Hayley’s hand. “Don’t worry, Hayley. I’ll stay here with you, and I won’t leave. I’ll get justice for you.”
After Nancy got home, she heard some good news from Alexis. In three days, she could cancel her identity. From that moment, Cyrus never returned home, and they never saw each other again.
On the first day, Hayley sent a photo of Cyrus helping her bathe in the hospital, and Nancy burned their wedding dress and photos.
On the second day, Hayley sent a video of Cyrus comforting her in the hospital, and Nancy tore up the novel Cyrus had written for her.
On the third day, Hayley showed off the engagement ring Cyrus gave her, and Nancy decided to sell the “Only You” and the wedding ring at an auction.
The following morning, Nancy’s phone rang. It was Cyrus.
Cyrus spoke coldly, “Nancy, did you realize your mistake? Come and apologize to Hayley. Make her forgive you, or let’s get a divorce.”
Nancy’s gaze fell, and she whispered, “Then wait and see.”

After hanging up, she wrote a note and left it on the table. [Don’t forget to open the gift I gave you half a month. ago – Nancy.]
Nancy then picked up her suitcase, not looking back as she walked out the door.
She murmured inside, ‘Goodbye, Cyrus. And let’s never meet again.
Soon, the airplane took off, heading toward the clouds.
As Nancy watched the sunlight streaming through the window, she felt as if she had shed all her burdens.
“Congratulations on your new life, Nancy,” she whispered.
