Norton was smitten with Nancy since Cyrus brought her to their first gathering.
He had seen plenty of attractive women, but none quite like Nancy, with her stunning, delicate beauty. But what truly set her apart was her exceptional, icy demeanor. She was proud, aloof, and unreachable as the moon in the sky.
Nancy had finally left Cyrus!
“Man, you need to talk some sense into Cyrus,” a rich kid sidled up to Norton and whispered, “The guy will drink himself into oblivion at this rate. And Nancy, man, she’s just being silly. Why get all hung up on being faithful? Hayley’s just a fling. She could never take Nancy’s place. We’re talking about Mrs. Gordon here.”
Norton glanced at the guy, then at Cyrus, drowning his sorrows in alcohol.
A smirk played on Norton’s lips. “You’re right. Fetch the star of tonight’s show.”
“Hey, let’s lighten the mood for Cyrus and help him forget all this drama,” the rich kid said with a giddy laugh, knowing how they usually dealt with emotional turmoil.
Norton’s smirk had a hint of mockery. Nancy was no fool. Cyrus wouldn’t have proposed a hundred times before she said yes if she were that easy to win over.
Cyrus acted like a fool, thinking he could keep Nancy with Hayley on the side. He needed to mess up more, Norton thought. The messier, the better. Nancy would leave Cyrus for good.
A girl in a school uniform approached as Norton’s thought trailed off.
Norton nodded at her. “Go on. Take good care of Mr. Gordon.”
“Sure thing, Mr. Patel,” the girl replied with a flirtatious glance at Norton before walking to Cyrus.
Cyrus was too focused on his drink to notice until a slender hand stopped him.
His face darkened instantly, and he looked up, annoyed. “Get lost… Nancy?”
She had Nancy’s beautiful features. Even the shape of her face resembled Nancy’s. But Cyrus quickly realized she wasn’t Nancy. Nancy’s eyes were pure, unlike the seductive gaze of the girl before him.
Cyrus‘ expression turned icy. “Who are you?”
Hearing Cyrus‘ deep, husky voice, with his strikingly handsome face, the girl’s heartbeat quickened, her voice shy but seductive. “I’m a friend sent by Mr. Patel. He said you were feeling down and asked me to cheer you up. Don’t worry. I’m very good at making people feel better.”
With that, she leaned in to kiss him. But the next moment, she found herself grasped tightly by the neck, her breath stolen away. “Uh!”
Not just the girl but Norton and the others were stunned, too.
Seeing Cyrus‘ chilling gaze, Norton reacted as if everything clicked into place. “Cyrus, what are you doing? Let her go. You’re going to kill her!”
The others finally snapped out of their daze, trying to intervene. But before they could finish, Cyrus threw the girl to the ground. Gasping for air, she coughed violently.
Rushing to her side, Norton comforted her. “Sadie, are you okay?”
She couldn’t even speak, still struggling to breathe.
Furious, Norton looked up to find Cyrus standing before him. Their eyes met, Cyrus‘ gaze cold and menacing. Norton felt a shiver down his spine, but before he could say anything, Cyrus asked, “Did you sleep with her?”
“What?” Norton was caught off guard.

Cyrus looked disgusted as he smashed a beer bottle over Norton’s head.
Crash!
The girl screamed.
Norton cried out in agony, but before he could retaliate, Cyrus kicked him, sending him tumbling across the
floor.
“Norton, you want to die? Bringing a girl who looks so much like Nancy here to play your games? You can’t get the real deal, so settle for a knockoff?”
About to intervene, the rich kids were left speechless.
Norton was panicked, but faced with Cyrus‘ loathing gaze, he didn’t deny it this time.
