Neil was practically on pins and needles, worried sick that Lena might turn him down. “On behalf of Evergreen Global, I want to invite you to the business summit three days later. Whether or not you decide to ink a deal with NY is entirely up to you.”
It was a business summit, and she got a personal invitation from Evergreen Global. It would be the golden ticket to rubbing shoulders with the wealthy elite and securing investments at lightning speed.
Everyone in the room was dumbfounded. Even Nancy couldn’t hide her momentary surprise. “It seems Evergreen Global is making me an offer I can’t refuse.”
“As we should,” Neil replied earnestly. “The mess with NY was a black mark on our reputation. Please, Miss Lena, don’t let one bad apple sour your view on NY.”
Seeing Neil’s apologetic expression, Nancy arched an eyebrow, her demeanor indifferent and composed. “Of course.”
“So, Miss Lena, would you consider giving NY a chance?”
With a smile, Nancy nodded. “I see no reason to refuse.”
Neil sighed with relief, glancing at Judson, whose expression had softened slightly, knowing he’d made the right call.
“Miss Lena, we’re incredibly grateful you’re giving NY this opportunity. Let’s go ahead and start the paperwork,” Neil said eagerly, gesturing for her to follow.
Nancy didn’t object, stepping forward when Judson quickly caught up. “Babe, I’ll wait for you outside. Don’t worry. I’ve got your back. No one will mess with you on my watch.”
Nancy didn’t protest, knowing Judson was amnesiac. Leaving him behind wasn’t an option she was comfortable with.
When Neil heard Judson’s words, he couldn’t help but grin so wide it felt like it might split his face. Inside, he cursed Mathew’s foolishness for insulting Lena in front of Judson–it was like signing his own death warrant. Getting banished from the inner circles was the least he deserved.
Baldrick pursed his lips as the group departed, puzzled by how Neil seemed to respect Judson. With that thought, Baldrick silently followed.
The door slammed shut.
Standing by the window, Judson’s expression gradually turned icy.
Neil approached cautiously. “Mr. Buchanan, rest assured. We’ve allocated the majority of the benefits to Miss
Lena.”
Judson’s chilly gaze swept over Neil, his lips barely moving. “Is this how you handle my instructions? Allowing Matthew to trouble my woman, you’re quite bold.”
Neil went pale, a cold shiver running down his spine at Judson’s icy tone.
“Mr. Buchanan, it wasn’t me. I had no idea Matthew would pull such a stunt! I’ll ban him immediately, and Susan, too…”
Judson’s cold laugh cut through the air. “It is your last chance. You can kiss your manager position goodbye if anyone from NY disrespects Lena again.”
Neil’s gaze sharpened, nodding vigorously. “Yes, sir.”
Though unsure why Judson chose to keep his relationship with Lena under wraps, Neil knew better than to pry. The hallway fell silent.

Chapter 8
“Should I check on the contract?” Neil ventured,
Judson hummed in response, but just as he was about to say something, he suddenly turned to lock eyes with a figure in the distance. Their cold gazes met, and the air thickened with tension.
Baldrick’s lips curved into a detached smile. “Judson, got your memories back?”
Unfazed, Judson retorted with a hint of malice, “Guess.”
As the standoff continued, the door creaked open.
Nancy stepped out, contract in hand, eyeing the standoff between Judson and Baldrick thoughtfully. “What are you two discussing?”
Caught off guard, Baldrick was about to speak when Judson swiftly embraced Nancy, “Babe, Baldrick was giving me a hard time, accusing me of regaining my memories just because he saw Neil speaking to me!” Baldrick stared at the playful banter between Judson and Nancy. “Is it me you have a problem with? Or did you think I didn’t notice Neil practically bowing down to you?”
After all, Neil was a top executive at Evergreen Global, and it wasn’t every day you saw someone command such respect.
