Judson’s voice was icy as he instructed, “Come pick me up at the Gonzalez family.”
Lenard couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity. “And why in the world would I do that?”
“You still want that list of guys secretly crushing on Winnie, right?” Judson shot back, hitting the nail on the
head.
Lenard snapped to attention. “Bro, give me twenty minutes tops. I’ll be there!”
While it wasn’t as prestigious as Evergreen Global, the Sandro Group was still a prominent player in Ardenweald’s business district, with its skyscrapers showcasing cutting–edge design.
As Nancy approached the reception, announcing herself, Baldrick’s assistant, James, dashed down to greet her, respectfully ushering her into the CEO’s office.
“Miss Lena, the boss is in a morning meeting. It’ll wrap up in half an hour,” James informed her.
Nancy smiled, nodding. “No worries, I’ll wait. You go on with your tasks.”
James quickly agreed and tiptoed out, leaving the office in silence.
Nancy was about to revisit some documents when suddenly, footsteps approached.
The door burst open, interrupting her. Lifting her gaze, Nancy saw a dazzling brunette stride in with superiority. Both women sized each other up. Nancy’s delicate features were naturally charming, yet her eyes shone purely. On the other hand, Lucy could only feel envy.
“So, you’re Lena?” Lucy’s voice carried a hint of malice.
Unperturbed, Nancy responded, “Yes, and you might be?”
“I’m Baldrick’s fiancée, Lucy Allen,” she declared, haughtily sitting in Baldrick’s chair.
The Allen family was a century–old dynasty in Ardenweald and one of the top four influential families, second only to Evergreen Global.
Nancy chuckled calmly. “Miss Lucy, does Mr. Robertson know he’s engaged to you?”
“What are you implying?” Lucy’s voice sharpened, her laughter tinged with sarcasm.
“Lena, do you think you have any hold over him because Baldrick showed up at that conference for you? I’d advise you to end things with Baldrick, or you’ll regret it.”
Nancy remained composed. “Mr. Robertson and I are business partners. I don’t believe you, Miss Lucy, have any say in this matter.”
“Oh, business partners? Dare you say you haven’t slept with Baldrick? Why else would he work with you? You think your designs are unmatched?” Lucy’s face twisted in disgust. “Lena, believe me. With just one word to Baldrick, I could terminate your contract and crush your studio like an ant.”
“Is that so? That’s the Allen family’s approach, huh?” Nancy’s eyes cooled. “Well, I’m eager to see if Mr. Robertson would terminate our contract over your word.”
Furious, Lucy grabbed a vase from the desk and threw it at Nancy. “How dare you talk back to me!”
Nancy dodged just in time, and the vase shattered on impact, a shard slicing her leg and drawing a thin line of blood. Her expression hardened as she glared back at Lucy.
Lucy stood to slap Nancy. “Bitch, what are you staring at!”
But before she could land the blow, a large hand caught her wrist from behind Nancy.
