Nancy was mid–sentence when she turned her head, only to find Baldrick standing behind her, his expression dark and stormy.
Lucy watched Baldrick wrap his arms around Nancy, his face twisted in an ugly scowl.
Tears pricked at Lucy’s eyes, her heart sinking with grievance. “Baldrick, you’re hurting me!”
Damn it! What sort of spell had Nancy cast to deserve Baldrick’s affection?
Baldrick seemed not to hear her, his grip tightening on Lucy’s wrist. “Apologize to Lena. The Sandro Group isn’t some high school drama club where you can throw tantrums!”
Lucy’s eyes widened in disbelief. “You’re asking me to apologize to this newbie designer? Have you lost your mind?”
“Who’s lost their mind here, Lucy? Did you think you’re above everyone else?” Baldrick’s face was darker than Lucy had ever seen, especially when he thought about Lucy swiping at Nancy. It was as if all his patience had evaporated.
Lucy felt even more aggrieved. “Baldrick, all this because of Lena? Would your precious Sandro Group have even gotten off the ground without my father?”
“The Sandro Group might have had a leg up thanks to the Allen Group, but your father’s empire in Starfield City wouldn’t have expanded without my help, Lucy. We’re even in this regard!”
Lucy’s complexion turned ghostly pale at Baldrick’s words. “What do you mean by that?”
“It means you have no right to boss around here. The Sandro Group isn’t an Allen family business, and I won’t be with you!” The menace in Baldrick’s eyes was unmistakable, a clear sign he wasn’t joking.
Lucy couldn’t believe what she heard. “How could you do this to me? All because Lena’s been whispering sweet nothings in your ear, right?”
Nancy remained silent, wondering what she had to do with their quarrel.
Baldrick didn’t confirm or deny, responding coldly, “Lucy, apologize, or I’ll sue you for trying to steal company secrets. I mean it.”
When seeing the dead–serious look on Baldrick’s face, Lucy’s tears fell uncontrollably.
In a rage, she turned to Nancy, “Sorry, okay? Happy now?”
Nancy remained calm. “Whether I’m happy isn’t the point. I don’t accept your apology.”
“You!” Lucy was seething, unable to comprehend Nancy’s response.
Nancy smiled, “Miss Lucy, Mr. Robertson doesn’t need a partner who can’t use their head. Next time you decide to pick a fight, remember who your real rivals and allies are.”
Lucy froze, puzzled by Nancy’s words.
Before Lucy could do anything else, Baldrick waved her off dismissively.
“Get out!” Baldrick’s tone brooked no argument.
Lucy hesitated, but two security guards rushed in and forcibly escorted her out before she could speak again.
James came in with a cleaning crew to tidy up the office.
Baldrick warned, “James, consider yourself and the receptionist unemployed if Lucy dares to step foot in the Sandro Group again.”
James dared not protest, nodding, “Yes, I’ll make sure of it,” before exiting the room quickly.

The large office fell into silence.
Baldrick noticed the scrapes on Nancy’s legs and reached for the first aid kit, intending to help her.
Nancy caught his arm. “I can handle it.”
But as if not hearing her protests, Baldrick knelt, his actions more forceful than before. As Nancy tried to back away, Baldrick firmly grasped her leg.
Nancy’s expression shifted. “Baldrick!”
