Baldrick’s face darkened. “That piece of fish wasn’t for you.”
Upon hearing Baldrick’s words, Judson looked pleadingly toward Nancy, “Nancy, he’s so mean. I don’t like him.”
“The feeling is mutual!” Baldrick retorted coldly.
Their eyes locked, neither willing to back down as if the air was thick with the tension of an impending duel.
Nancy felt her patience wearing thin. “Can you both grow up? I can serve myself. Thank you very much.”
Seeing Nancy upset, Judson and Baldrick instantly calmed down.
After hurriedly finishing her meal, Nancy stood up. “I’m done. You guys continue. I’ll wait for you outside.”
She walked out without giving them a chance to respond, the door slamming shut behind her.
“It’s all your fault that Nancy’s upset,” Judson accused.
Unable to contain his anger, Baldrick let out a cold laugh. Facing Judson, his rival in love, always made him lose his cool, something that didn’t happen even with Cyrus.
“Judson, do you really think you’re Nancy’s husband? She’s just feeling sorry for you. Once you get your memory back, do you really think she’ll still want you?” he snapped.
The chill in Judson’s handsome face deepened. “Are you jealous that I get to stay by Nancy’s side and call her ‘babe‘ daily?”
Baldrick was speechless. So, what if he was jealous? He could accept losing to Cyrus, but why should Judson get ahead of him?
As if reading Baldrick’s mind, Judson said coldly, “Well, keep being jealous then. It’s not up to you whether Nancy wants me. I only know she doesn’t love you. You still can’t win Nancy over this time!”
Baldrick’s expression froze, all warmth vanishing instantly.
Their gazes locked, filled with undisguised hostility, looking like two fierce beasts had encroached on each other’s territory, on the brink of war!
Just then, a mocking voice broke the tension.
“Looks like Kenny’s forcing another girl to drink with him. But this girl is hot, an exotic beauty in a plain white shirt. No wonder Kenny’s smitten. I’d be, too, if I were him.”
Judson and Baldrick’s pupils shrank. An exotic beauty in a white shirt? Nancy?
Judson bolted for the door.
In the main hall, Susan snorted, “Lena, stop playing the high and mighty. You’re always flitting between two men. Mr. Kenny’s interest in you is a favor!”
Surrounded by a group of men, Nancy gave them a cold look upon hearing Susan’s words.
She spotted Susan and Kenny sitting together.
Kenny, a well–known playboy in high society, always got what he wanted. But as the only heir to the Ryan family, very few dared to stand in his way.
Nancy wouldn’t have left the private room if she had known they would be there.
Eyeing Nancy’s delicate features, Kenny swallowed hard, his face full of lust as he approached her. Even from a distance, he could catch her faint, elegant perfume, driving him to lunge at her.
“Lena, don’t be so defensive. I want to be friends.”
