Chapter 140
“Did we ship the wrong couple?”
Judson overheard the murmurs and quickly wrapped an arm around Nancy’s shoulder, his charming smile making him look like a modern–day prince. “Sweetheart, let’s sit down.”
Nancy furrowed her brows slightly but gave a subtle nod, aware of the astonished stares directed their way.
Baldrick’s expression darkened immediately, aware that Judson was doing this on purpose. He took a deep breath before standing up with a forced smile. “Nancy, why don’t you come and sit over here?”
Nancy’s seat was conveniently right next to Baldrick. She raised an eyebrow, but before she could move, Judson swiftly slid into the chair.
Baldrick was left speechless, “…”
Nancy felt a headache coming on but, seeing Judson’s childish antics, she didn’t say anything. She took the seat beside him.
Judson gave Baldrick a smug nod, his deep eyes glinting with an inscrutable coldness. “What are you waiting for? Have a seat, Mr. Sandro.”
The way he said “Mr. Sandro” dripped with mockery.
Baldrick chuckled dryly before sitting down. The tension between the two was palpable, like a battlefield ready to erupt.
Across from them, Lenard blinked in surprise as Winnie couldn’t help but remark, “Is this some kind of testosterone showdown? How exciting!”
Lenard scratched his chin thoughtfully. “Thrilling? I think Nancy looks a bit annoyed.”
Winnie quickly glanced at Nancy and noted her displeasure. Without hesitation, she gave Orlando a swift kick under the table.
Orlando jumped up, raising his glass with a broad smile. “Mr. Sandro, congratulations on leading The Sandro. Group to new heights. Cheers.”
Baldrick raised his glass in return. “Congratulations to you all as well. It’s been a win–win collaboration.”
He turned with a warm smile to Nancy, “Nancy, next time we collaborate, don’t hike up the prices.”
“I’ll do my best,” Nancy replied with a chuckle.
The previously tense atmosphere lightened considerably.
This was a celebration, after all, a time for toasting and laughter.
Alice, seated in her wheelchair, raised her glass with a smile and said, “Here’s to Lena. We couldn’t have reached this level of success without her.”
Everyone followed suit, lifting their glasses high.
Nancy raised her glass too. “It was a team effort. Next time, it’ll be my show
on stage.”
and I’ll invite everyone to join me
The models around them buzzed with excitement, especially Alice, who playfully threw herself at Nancy. “Lena, you’ve promised! I’ll hold you to it forever!”
Nancy chuckled at Alice’s enthusiasm. “Take it easy, okay?”
be there next time.”
Alice grinned. “Missing this show was one of my life’s regrets. I’ll make sure to be there
Nancy nodded softly. “Of course.”
The celebration lasted a good three hours, and many left with more than a little
Even Baldrick was slumped over the table.
Judson’s cheeks were flushed, and he lifted his chin proudly. “Hmph, lightweight.”
He leaned in closer to Nancy, nuzzling her neck. “Nancy, let’s go home.”
Nancy, a bit tipsy from her drinks, just nodded absently at whatever Judson was saying. Judson was utterly charmed by Nancy’s dazed expression, finding her irresistibly cute.
He wanted to kiss her.
But with so many people around and knowing Nancy’s modesty, he refrained.
Judson held Nancy close as they stood. “Come on, Nancy, let’s head out.”
Nancy didn’t resist, comforted by the scent of Judson’s cologne. She followed him out, feeling a sense of
peace.
Half an hour later, a sleek Rolls–Royce pulled up.
Cyrus, looking a bit harried, stepped out of the car.
Caleb, holding a tablet, looked equally stressed. “Mr. Gordon, Mr. Robertson and the others are celebrating here. The missus should be inside.”
