Chapter 3
The spectators joined in, “Caroline, Ed’s willing to take you as his mistress despite your prison record that’s more good fortune than you’d deserve in eight lifetimes. You brought this on yourself with your shameless behavior?“.
“So desperate! Using a memorial photo to force a marriage, and hurting our aunt too. You’re lucky Ed hasn’t killed you.”
“Better kneel and apologize quickly, or you’ll regret it soon.”
Seeing I wouldn’t move, Edward flicked his wrist, the flame burning away a corner of grandmother’s photo.
Tears rolled down my cheeks as I clenched my teeth and knelt, grinding out, “Young Master, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have hurt your fiancée. Please,
me back the photo- Ah!”
Before I could finish, Edward kicked my shoulder, chucking, “Caroline, it’s Emily you need to apologize to.”
Clenching my palm, I crawled to Emily and kowtowed, “Miss, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have maliciously hurt you, and I shouldn’t have crashed your wedding day. I’m sorry,”
I stiffly turned my head, looking at Edward with bloodshot eyes, “Can you return the photo now?”
The next moment, flames burst forth, quickly devouring the photo into ash.
Overcome with grief, I rushed madly to Edward’s feet, beating him as I demanded, “Edward, you bastard! I apologized, I kowtowed, why did you still burn grandmother’s photo? Have you forgotten how good she was to you?!”
Edward’s gaze faltered for half a second before he stepped back decisively, making me fall forward.
Ignoring my words, he smiled mockingly, “Caroline, didn’t I warn you not to spread rumors about marrying my uncle today?
“Even now, you’re desperately trying to get close to me.
“But sadly, with all the shameless paths you could take, you chose to set your sights on the head of the family.
“Do you know who my uncle is? A prominent figure in both business and politics – how could he be matched with a convict like you? Let me tell you Caroline, my uncle hates opportunistic people the most.”
The taut string in my mind snapped completely at that moment.
Imever imagined that in Edward’s eyes, I was someone who would do anything to climb the social ladder.
Yet on New Year’s Eve three years ago, he had stroked my head and praised me as an upright woman who dared to love and hate.
Three years isn’t long, but it’s enough to completely change someone’s heart.
Three years isn’t short, and it’s enough to shame me for life.
I hit my tongue, the pain bringing some clarity. With trembling hands, I removed the necklace from my neck and held it in my palm, “Edward, you recognized your uncle’s personally designed veil, so you must recognize this necklace too.”
This necklace was given to me as an engagement gift by William when he came to propose at my home, after I returned from his mansion that day I was released, covered in dirt and shame,
It was said to be the family’s heirloom, passed down to future brides.
Sure enough, Edward recognized it instantly,
He satched the necklace, examined it carefully, then violently threw it at my face, “Caroline, I underestimated your capabilities even making such a convincing counterfeit.
“But the real necklace is only with my uncle, not even my father has the right to inherit it. Where did you get this copy from?”
Seeing this, more and more onlookers gathered, their comments becoming increasingly harsh, “This is too much. She’s desperately trying to claim the position of a family bride.”

Chapter 3
“How caff someone be so shameless? Young Master William is marrying his true love today, and she’s here trying to smear his reputation. She really isn’t afraid of his methods.”
“This is nothing- Miss Lin killed someone for Ed, so what’s a little identity theft to her?”
“Disgusting!”
Seeing someone spit at me, others followed suit.
The cut on my face from the necklace stung painfully.
“I didn’t kill anyone!”
1protested angrily, but Emily slapped me hard, stepping forward with malice in her eyes, “Carol, I didn’t want to get involved, but stealing uncle’s
klace and spreading rumors‘ about marrying him is too much. As the future family bride, I must teach you a lesson on uncle’s behalf.”
