Chapter 10
At the city’s annual Business Leadership Summit, every seat was filled with top executives, but all eyes gravitated toward one person.
The legendary Issac Hernandez.
Three years had refined him further. After leaving his family’s company to strike out on his own, he’d transformed from a promising young executive into a masterful business leader. One quarter of brilliant financial results was all it took to establish his new empire.
Now Issac Hernandez’s success had nothing to do with old family money – it was built on pioneering an
entirely new industry.
“Do you know why young Mr. Hernandez went solo?”
The young woman, attending her first high–profile event, listened eagerly as her senior colleague gossiped.
“You won’t believe this – he left his bride at the altar! Just jumped into his Porsche and disappeared. Right in the middle of the ceremony!”
“High society marriages are never simple. Running out like that was like slapping both his parents and the bride’s family in the face. When his father threatened to cut him off from the business, he just walked away completely.”
“Oh my God,” the young woman covered her mouth to stifle her gasp. “But why did he run? Tell me!”
“I don’t know all the details, but witnesses say he got a phone call and just… ran. My guess? Something happened to someone he truly loved. It’s like something out of a tragedy…”
The young woman’s face went white as she noticed the tall, imposing figure behind them. She tugged desperately at her colleague’s sleeve.
“Mr. Hernandez!” she stammered, head bowed. “Can we help you?”
Issac stood there, devastatingly handsome with his sharp features and dark eyes, looking as serious as
ever.
“Where’s the restroom?”
The senior colleague turned around trembling. “R–right this way, sir…”

Instead of the expected anger, Issac simply followed. When he emerged, he merely glanced at them and said quietly: “You were right.”
“What?”
“The person I loved died.”
Those simple words landed like a thunderbolt. They stared in shock as Issac dried his hands and continued casually: “You’re well–informed. Too talented for hotel work. Come work for my company?”
The colleague was too stunned to respond, unsure if this was sarcasm or a genuine offer. He knew Hernandez now ran a medical company, completely unrelated to his own hospitality background. He bowed his head almost to the ground.
But then a long, elegant hand appeared before him, holding a business card with Issac Hernandez’s name
emblazoned on it.
“Bring the young lady with you too.”
Marcus Bennett never imagined that gossiping would land him a job. His hands trembled as he watched Issac on stage, delivering his keynote with characteristic coolness. He pinched himself hard.
“I must be dreaming,” he muttered. “Or he’s hiring me just to destroy me… but Marcus, are you really content being a hotel manager forever? To hell with it – I’m going!”
He shared the news with Emma Reed, who reacted just as nervously. Even after the conference ended, they were both still shaking.
“Marcus,” Emma said anxiously, “I heard more gossip about Mr. Hernandez. Want to hear it?”
“His company specializes in medical research. They say he founded it because his love died of cancer. That’s why he’s so focused on medical innovation. The company’s growth is astronomical. When he said you were well–informed, he probably wants you in pharmaceutical sales.”
“But what about you?” Marcus pointed at her. “Why did he want you too?”
“Maybe because of my looks…”
Emma was indeed beautiful – high–end hotels like theirs always considered appearance in hiring. Marcus studied her face, noting a gentle serenity in her features. Suddenly it clicked.
“You don’t think he has… other intentions?”

With this anxiety, they arrived at Hernandez Industries for their interview. The medical division was called “Eve“– even Emma could guess the name’s significance to their boss.
Issac’s business card got them immediate access. The receptionist looked at Emma with an interesting smile. “Mr. Hernandez is waiting upstairs.”
The receptionist was strikingly beautiful. Marcus’s gaze darted between her and Emma, his brow furrowing. “Don’t you think she looks a bit like you?”
“Really?” Emma used her dark phone screen as a mirror, studying carefully, “Maybe around the eyes…”
By the time they reached Issac’s office, both Emma and Marcus understood – from the receptionist to Emma herself, they all resembled someone-
