Chapter 45
It was Thomas!
A sneer-
Another gasp resounded, and everyone’s gaze turned towards Thomas.
I was also surprised as I looked at him.
“Thomas, you…” Cathy looked at him in confusion.
Thomas stood up. “Miss Cathy wants to wear it at her wedding, and I want to get married too. My
girlfriend likes it very much, so I must get it for her!”
This time, Lucas didn’t bid anymore. He just looked at me deeply and then led Cathy away without saying a word.
Thomas received the diamond crown. After making the final payment, he handed it to me. “Evelyn,
it’s for you.”
“You… got it for me?” I looked at him in astonishment.
I truly believed that he only had eyes for the girl he liked!
“Yeah.” Thomas nodded seriously.
“Are you crazy? Spending 100 million dollars just to make yourself happy?”
One hundred million dollars! I knew that this was almost all of Thomas‘ savings.
“This diamond crown is not worth it, you don’t have to be so foolish!” I truly felt sorry for him.
“The diamond crown may not be worth it, but you are worth it.” Thomas remained serious, his eyes shining brightly.
Could I see love in his eyes?
Dazzling.

Finally, I accepted the crown, but I requested Fredrica to transfer 100 million dollars from my
account to Thomas.
I wanted to repay him in full that night.
“Evelyn, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t know where to wait for death. If you keep insisting on being fair with me, then I can’t stay at Starlight Media!”
This child…
I just wanted to return the money. Why was it so difficult?
The Third–person Perspective
At the entrance of the auction house, Cathy struggled to catch up with Lucas.
“Lucas, it’s just a crown, I don’t care.”
A pensive expression appeared on Cathy’s face.
“I won’t get the crown for you,” Lucas said indifferently.
Seeing Evelyn bidding for the diamond crown, he suddenly remembered that Evelyn had expressed
a bit of regret on their wedding night: “I really wanted to have a grand wedding and wear a diamond–made crown.”
Although Evelyn had divorced him by now, he knew she wasn’t capable of it, and he couldn’t let her deceive herself.
He had warned her beforehand but decided to buy it for her.
If Evelyn wanted to bid against him out of anger, then compensating her after the divorce was also
reasonable.
However, the outcome wasn’t good. Beside Evelyn, there was a man, Thomas, who was willing to spend a lot of money on her.
The more Thomas was willing to spend on Evelyn, the more despicable Lucas seemed him to be.
Clearly, this marriage was something Evelyn was determined to get at all costs in Lucas’s view.

What reason did he have to be good to a woman who he thought had conspired against him?
It hurt!
His chest felt as if it froze like a stone!
Cathy looked around in confusion.
She had intended to create a gentle, tender, and caring appearance, but she didn’t expect Lucas to be
so heartless.
Luckily, there was no one around, otherwise, her face would have hurt like being slapped twice.
Although there were no reporters at the auction venue, the news that Thomas spent 100 million dollars to buy a diamond crown for Evelyn spread in the upper–class society.
One morning, Diana answered countless calls, all of them asking about this matter.
“Damn it, Evelyn, she’s just a piece of trash that the Reed family doesn’t want, yet Thomas spent so much money on her!”
Diana’s heart, liver, spleen, and stomach felt like they were boiling in hot water when she thought that her favorite idol, in her dreams, might have called her a few more times and spent so much money on someone like Evelyn.
There was nowhere that didn’t annoy her! “Is Thomas blind? Even if she’s useless, she’s divorced and has a child! If it were me, even if Evelyn shined my shoes, I would feel dirty!”
Pamela’s complexion wasn’t great either.
Yesterday she had heard about Diana being humiliated by someone else, and only Thomas and Evelyn dared to challenge them like this.
“Doesn’t Thomas know Evelyn has a child? This woman can always deceive, so she must have deceived Thomas,” Diana speculated.
“Thomas knows!”
Pamela’s words only made Diana’s mood worse.
“I’ve heard all about it. Thomas not only knows but also took Evelyn and that bastard child

ice–skating!”
Because Diana knew that Thomas didn’t care about Evelyn having a child, she became even more
desperate.
She, as the noble daughter of the Reed family, had confessed her love to Thomas but was straightforwardly rejected by him!
In Diana’s view, she was much superior to Evelyn in every way! The more Diana thought about it, the more annoyed she became.
“Mom, Evelyn won’t make us happy after the divorce, so let’s make her feel uncomfortable!” She suggested to Pamela with determination.
“Since Evelyn has left the Reed family, let’s consider her as dead and not bother with her anymore, so as not to diminish our own value.” Pamela cared most about her own reputation and told Diana, “However, there’s still an important thing to do now.”
Diana thought that Pamela had no intention of helping her, and she became so angry that she wanted to jump up. But when she clearly heard what Pamela wanted to do to Evelyn, Diana became happily calm again.
“You’re still a formidable mother, hitting her killing spot. This time, she’ll suffer!”
Evelyn’s Perspective
Today Fredrica had a day off, so she and I took Eva to school and then stayed at the kindergarten to
check on her.
Eva said she didn’t like this kindergarten, so I took this opportunity to change schools for her so that nothing would happen to the Reed family anymore.
The two of us walked and talked, inevitably discussing the auction last night.
Speaking of Lucas willingly exerting all his efforts to compete for the crown with me for Cathy’s sake, Fredrica gritted his teeth with hatred. “Lucas is truly a fool. His greatest talent in life is oppressing you. Fortunately, Thomas was quite clever and he had helped you regain your dignity, allowing him to see firsthand just how popular you, Evelyn, have become.”
When Thomas was mentioned, I couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
The diamond crown purchased for $100 million now felt like a burning flame to me.

I wasn’t greedy for money, and I didn’t want to be greedy,
Before I could come up with a solution, my phone rang.
I lowered my head to answer, and on the other end came a cold voice, “11:30, Ames Café, be on time!”
It wasn’t until the call was disconnected that I remembered the voice belonged to my ex–mother–in–law, Pamela.
