When Emma heard Justin’s answer, her face turned pale. Forcing a bitter smile, she said, “As long as you’re happy, Justin, that’s all that matters to me. I don’t care about anything else.”
She hesitated before adding, “But… can I still stay at RC Corporation and keep working here?”
Justin nodded firmly. “As long as I’m here, this place will always be your home.”
“Thank you, Justin,” she whispered before lowering her head and leaving his office as if fleeing.
After Emma left, Justin instructed Sam to transfer a hundred million to her account. It was his way of compensating her for the night before and easing his guilt for hurting her.
With everything finally out in the open, Justin felt a weight lift off his shoulders. He returned to his usual self, even catching himself smiling whenever thoughts of Emily crossed his mind.
He also realized why he had always disliked Sean.
The secretarial team noticed the sudden improvement in Justin’s mood after Emma’s visit. Grateful, they quietly spread the word, and within hours, the entire company knew. Emma was being praised as the magic cure for the CEO’s bad moods.
The sales director, eager to show his appreciation, went as far as to sing Emma’s praises, practically putting her on a pedestal.
As Emma walked through the office, she basked in the compliments from her colleagues. Her reddened, tearful eyes and bitten, swollen lips were wildly misinterpreted, fueling speculation that something unspeakable had happened between her and the CEO in his office.
Once Emma shut her office door, her expression turned icy, her gaze filled with a calculating coldness.
Gossip spread like wildfire, but as the CEO, Justin was insulated from it. No one dared mention the rumors to his face, leaving him completely unaware of the reputation Emma had cultivated as his “mood booster.”
Justin, on the other hand, threw himself into work. The deadline for a cross–border collaboration project with Wilfred loomed near, and he couldn’t afford any distractions.
Meanwhile, Emily woke up late after sleeping in. After freshening up, she checked her phone and noticed a news alert from Helen, accompanied by a flood of harsh comments about Justin.
Seeing Justin and Emma’s names together no longer stirred any emotion in Emily. Her love for him had faded, leaving her indifferent.
Out of idle curiosity, she clicked on the link to gossip a bit but found the article had been taken down. She figured Justin had it removed, as he was now meticulously protecting Emma in every way possible after what had happened three years ago.
Shrugging, Emily put her phone down and headed to the kitchen in search of food.
Mrs. Zimmer had also seen the entertainment news and was visibly distressed. She had always thought Justin and Emily were a couple, only to learn about Emma from the headlines.

Trying to comfort Emily, she said, “Miss Yates, don’t believe what you see online. Those reporters love making things up. It’s all nonsensé.
“The photos might not even be real. People are always editing pictures with computers these days! Besides, Mr. Yates just called to say he’ll be home for dinner tonight!”
Emily gave a light, indifferent smile as she took a bite of toast. “Mrs. Zimmer, Justin and I aren’t what you think. We have a contract, and when it ends, I’ll leave.”
She added casually, “Eventually, a new mistress will move into this house. It’ll be Emma, the one from the news.” Grabbing a jar of jam, Emily returned to the dining table.
Mrs. Zimmer opened her mouth to speak but stopped herself several times, unsure of what to say. She wasn’t good with words, but she could sense that Justin had feelings for Emily.
After work, perhaps out of guilt, Justin did something unprecedented. He stopped by a flower shop to buy a bouquet
“Please wrap 99 red roses for me. No need for a card, thank you,” he said.
Carrying the massive bouquet himself, he headed home.
Emily enjoyed arranging flowers, and he thought to himself “She’ll probably like roses, right?”
