Chapter 113
At the RC Corporation, Emily followed Justin confidently into the exclusive CEO elevator, heading straight to the top floor.
“Good morning, Mr. Yates!”
“Good morning, sir!”
Justin nodded in acknowledgment, his expression stoic, as he walked into his office.
Naturally, Emily followed behind him.
As soon as the door to the
CEO’s office closed, the secretarial team started whispering among themselves.
“Was that Emma walking in behind the CEO? She looked a little different, didn’t she?”
“Yeah, I thought so too. Something was off.”
By mid–morning, the rumor of the CEO bringing in a woman who resembled Emma had spread like wildfire throughout the company. Some said it was Emma, others said it wasn’t.
When Emma heard about it, she blinked in surprise. “Justin brought Emily to the office?” she wondered. “Emily, you’re more cunning than I thought. Fine, let’s see whose tricks are better,” she thought to herself.
Justin quickly became swamped with meetings, leaving Emily alone in his office to fend for herself.
Not one to care about being left behind, Emily decided to explore the company.
As she wandered downstairs
she overheard gossip coming from the break room.
“Did you hear the CEO brought a new woman to the office today?”
“Yeah, I heard about it.”
“I’ll tell you what–it’s just a fling. There’s no way she compares to his feelings for Emma. Emma’s the real deal, his official girlfriend. This one will be tossed aside sooner or later.”
“Exactly. So many women these days throw away their self–respect just to be a mistress. It’s nothing new.”
“The CEO already has a girlfriend, and she’s still chasing after him? She’s shameless! It’s disgusting.”
Sam, who happened to be nearby handling departmental matters, overheard the conversation and frowned. He was about to step in when Emily stopped him.
She stepped into the break room herself, her tone dripping with mockery. “You’re right! Your CEO does have a girlfriend, yet he insists on dragging me to work with him. What a pain, huh? Maybe Emma just isn’t charming enough to hold onto him.”
The employees froze, stunned by her sudden appearance.
“Who are you?” someone asked, though recognition dawned on their face almost immediately.
“I’m the woman you were just gossiping about,” Emily said with a sneer before turning and walking away.
The rumors had barely started, and already, she was being slandered. It wasn’t hard to figure out who was behind
- it.

Chapter 113
“Does Emma really think I’ll crumble because of a few nasty rumors?” Emily thought, her lips curling in disdain.
“If this is her way of trying to push me out, it’s disgusting, she silently remarked.
Back on the top floor, Sam accompanied Emily to the CEO’s office.
“Miss Yates, you could tell the CEO about this, you know. He’d stand up for you,” Sam said earnestly.
Emily let out a cold laugh. Justin might deal with the gossipers, but he would never confront the true instigator for her sake, at least.
She shrugged it off with a casual excuse. “The CEO’s busy. Why bother him with something so trivial?”
Sam was a bit moved by her response. If this had happened to Emma, ‘she would have been crying to the CEO by now, claiming she had been wronged.
Unable to hold back, Sam offered some advice. “Miss Yates sometimes you’re too strong–willed. Showing a little vulnerability can go a long way with men.”
Emily smiled faintly, but her eyes remained cold. Justin didn’t love her. Acting vulnerable wouldn’t change anything. It would only chip away at her self–respect and leave her living without dignity–a life she refused to accept.
“Thanks for the advice, Sam,” she said with polite indifference.
Just then, Justin stepped out of the elevator after his meeting and spotted Emily chatting with Sam, both smiling and seemingly at ease.
His expression darkened. “Since when did these two become so familiar with each other behind my back?” he thought.
“What are you two talking about?” he asked coolly.
