Chapter 116
Justin noticed Emily had been gone for a while and instinctively reached for his phone to call her. The first unread message was from her, “I went home.”
She didn’t wait for him..
Why didn’t she wait for him?
His mood instantly darkened, and the lively atmosphere at the table quickly cooled. Sensing the shift, the others wisely wrapped up the gathering and ended the dinner early.
When Justin arrived home, the house was dark. Not a single light had been left on for him.
“She’s avoiding me now?” he thought bitterly.
But what could he do? He had already realized he couldn’t live without her.
Justin turned on a warm light and stood by the bed, staring at Emily’s sleeping face for a long time before leaning down to plant a kiss on her forehead. Afterward, he headed to the closet for his pajamas and went to take a shower. The scent of alcohol and smoke washed away, replaced by the fragrance of the body wash Emily had bought. Feeling refreshed, he slipped into bed and pulled her into his arms.
Whether it was the alcohol or simply having her close, his body began to stir in the quiet darkness.
He tightened his hold on her, pulling her even closer.
Emily, still fast asleep, shifted uncomfortably. It felt as though a rock had been placed on the bed, so she moved toward the side without the “rock,” trying to find a better position.
Her movements only made things worse for Justin. His unmet desire from the night before still lingered, and tonight, he had no plans to hold back.
Burying his face in her neck, he leaned over her, letting his restraint slip away. But halfway through, he suddenly remembered the look of disgust she had given him before.
“Does she think I’m dirty?” he thought bitterly. “Even if I am, she can’t leave me.”
Justin paused, recalling Mrs. Zimmer’s casual comment from earlier, “Could she be pregnant? Well, even if she isn’t, there’s no rush for young people like you to have kids.”
A child…
If she had his child, maybe she wouldn’t think about leaving him.
The thought solidified in his mind. He took off the condom and continued.
The night was long.
Emily rarely dreamed, but that night, she found herself adrift on waves, floating aimlessly.
When Justin was finally satisfied, he held her close and fell asleep.
The next morning, Emily woke to find herself alone in bed. Justin was already in the bathroom, brushing his teeth.
Chapter 116
As she moved to get up, she felt a strange discomfort in her body.
“Justin, what did you do to me last night?” she demanded angrily, standing by the bed.
Justin had anticipated her reaction and calmly finished shaving before stepping out of the bathroom, his expression indifferent.
“We did what we’re supposed to do,” he said, as though it were no big deal.
“It’s not like this was the first time. No need to act so dramatic.”
He sleeps with Emma and then comes to me, and he doesn’t think that’s
“So dramatic?” Emily fumed internally. “He sleep
disgusting?”
“Why did you take the condom off?” she asked, her voice trembling with anger.
At least with protection, she could convince herself this was just physical and nothing more. Now…
Feeling nauseated at the thought, she turned toward the bathroom, wanting to wash away the feeling of filth.
Just as she reached the door, Justin grabbed her arm, forcing her to stop.
Her expression was furious, and her resistance only deepened his irritation. “Does she really find it so hard to accept me like this?” he wondered.
Looking down at her, he said firmly, “Not just last night–I won’t be using anything from now on. Not until you’re pregnant.”
Her mind reeled. What was he implying? That he wanted her to have a child while still planning to marry Emma?
Could he be any more shameless? Was he trying to spare Emma the burden of childbirth, only to have Emily bear the child for her?
Shaking off his grip forcefully, Emily stormed into the bathroom and scrubbed herself clean.
Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Jack woke up in bed next to his secretary, who was still fast asleep.
Wiping the cold sweat from his face, he narrowed his eyes. Just the thought of Emily made his heart itch with longing. Even while sleeping with his secretary last night, it was Emily he had been thinking about.
