Emily enjoyed the warm atmosphere. It truly felt like being among siblings.
That was until Justin called her. “Where are you? I’m coming to pick you up right now.”
Reluctantly, Emily said her goodbyes. Richard, for one, seemed especially reluctant to see her go.
A sleek black Maybach pulled up in front of the hospital. William stepped out and opened the door for her. As Emily slid into the backseat, Justin’s cold, sharp voice greeted her.
“I thought you were at an art exhibit. Why were you at a hospital?”
His interrogative tone instantly soured her mood. “We have a contract, Justin. That doesn’t make me your prisoner,” she snapped.
“Alright,” Justin said simply before reaching over and inspecting her, his hands moving to check her arms and shoulders.
“What are you doing?” Emily protested, trying to push him away.
“I’m checking if you’re hurt,” he replied, his tone surprisingly serious and devoid of accusation.
Emily froze for a moment, startled. Was he… worried about her?
Quickly dismissing the thought, she pulled back and avoided his touch. “I’m not hurt.”
Justin studied her for a moment, his gaze intense, before withdrawing his hand. “Where are we going?” Emily asked, noticing the unfamiliar route.
“To the office. You’re staying with me while I work late.” Justin leaned back, closing his eyes as if to rest.
The car drove into RC Corporation’s underground parking lot.
Inside the CEO’s office, a few takeout boxes sat on the coffee table. Justin picked up a set of utensils and placed a few ribs into Emily’s bowl. When he noticed she wasn’t eating, he asked, “Not hungry?”
“Not really,” Emily replied, nibbling on some vegetables before setting her fork down. She had already eaten plenty at the hospital.
“Then just sit with me while I eat,” Justin said casually.
Despite his apparent hunger, Justin’s eating was refined and elegant–a clear mark of someone raised in a prominent family. Emily glanced at him briefly before retreating to the couch with her phone.
She sent a quick message to Helen and then opened a game app, teaming up with Richard for a few rounds. Just as she was finishing her second game, a shadow loomed over her. Justin snatched her phone and tossed it onto the couch.
“What are you doing?” Emily demanded. “Aren’t you supposed to be working? Get back to your desk!”
Justin leaned over her, pinning her against the sofa. “This can wait,” he murmured.
“Ugh, let me go, you insatiable player!” Emily retorted, pushing against his chest. “Last night, this afternoon- aren’t you worried about wearing yourself out?”
His voice dropped to a raspy whisper. “You should know better than anyone if I’m running out of energy.”
The office soon filled with the unmistakable sound of intimacy.

Meanwhile, Jack had planned to deliver some documents, but the secretary area was empty. Only the light in Sam’s office was on, so he made his way to the CEO’s office instead.
Just as he was about to knock, faint noises from inside caught his attention. Curious, he leaned to the side, pressing his ear against the door. His mind raced, “That seductive voice… damn; it’s so tempting.”
He lingered there, eavesdropping until the sounds inside finally ceased. Satisfied, he straightened his bulky frame and waddled back to his office, a sly grin plastered on his face.
Meanwhile, Emma stayed late at the office, determined to finish her work. Her phone rang, displaying an unfamiliar number. Assuming it was work–related, she answered.
“Hello, this is Emma. Who’s calling?”
A low chuckle came through the line. “Oh, Miss Xander, forgotten me already? You really are someone who forgets people the moment you move up in the world. Thinking I’m beneath you after taking over Wilfred’s project? Funny, because that night, under me, you were calling out in a very different tone.”
