Chapter 15
Emma walked away from the pool, her arm hooked around Justin’s, her steps light, and a smile playing on her lips.
She was pleased. Rumors would spread quickly, and by the time they reached the Smith family, there would be no chance for someone like Emily to ever fit in.
Emily was destined to be nothing more than a hidden mistress, someone who would never see the light of day.
In the hallway leading to their rooms, Emily walked side by side with Sean.
“Thank you for helping me back there!” Emily said sincerely.
Ever since her accident, she had been afraid of water, and the suffocating feeling of falling into the pool had really shaken her. She also hadn’t known that the Smith family was behind the resort’s development.
“That server…” Emily began, unaware of the deal between the server and Emma. She thought it had been a simple accident and wanted to speak up for him.
“That server will definitely be let go,” Sean interjected. “Not every guest is as forgiving as you are. If he messes up again, it could be a huge problem for the resort and the entire corporation.”
As they reached the door to Emily’s room, Sean stopped, showing gentlemanly courtesy. “Why don’t you go ahead and take a hot shower, and when you’re done, give me a call or text me, and I’ll bring the ointment over.”
“No need to go to the trouble. I didn’t bring my phone with me, so I can’t add you.” Emily replied, realizing her phone was still in her room from earlier,
After Sean had jumped in to save her, Emily’s initial annoyance from their run–in at the parking lot had started to fade.
“I already gave you a missed call, so you’ll have my number when you’re back inside,” Sean said with a playful grin, clearly proud of himself. “Go on in. Once you’re settled, give me a call,” he added, stepping back with a gentlemanly wave as he left her to her privacy.
Emily unlocked the door with her fingerprint, a process set up when she checked in. The resort would delete it when she checked out.
As she stepped inside, a shadow appeared behind her, and suddenly, she was shoved into the room. The shadow followed, shutting the door swiftly behind them.
Just as Emily was about to cry out, a familiar hand clamped over her mouth and nose,
It was Justin!
This maniac had followed her into her room. Was he some kind of stalker?
“Mm–mph!” she struggled, repulsed by the familiar scent she could now hardly stand. It was nauseating, making her want to throw up.
Justin let go of her, but not before trapping her against the door, with his hands on either side, pinning her in the narrow space.
Watching her bend over, trying to suppress her retching, only fueled his inexplicable rage. The sight of her still wrapped in Sean’s jacket made his face darken.

“What’s this? You used to cling to me so tightly in bed, and how that Sean’s around, you’re too good for me?”
Emily’s disgust only intensified as he spewed his accusations, making her nausea worse. Her revulsion toward Justin had now become a physical reaction.
“That’s right, Justin, I am done with you. Sean is a thousand times better than you anywhere and anytime!” she shot back. “In bed or out of bed, he’s leagues above you in every way!”
She knew he would keep projecting his twisted assumptions on her, so she decided to go along with it. Maybe if she confirmed his suspicions, he would finally leave her alone.
She wasn’t going to cling to Justin and refuse to let go. And she certainly wasn’t going to fight with Emma over him!
Hearing those words, Justin’s face turned from pale to dark, anger surging within him.
“Fine! So you think he’s better than me, huh? Let’s see who’s really stronger!” Justin growled through gritted teeth, his voice hardening as he spoke.
He scooped Emily up, sliding one arm under her knees and the other around her back, and marched into the bedroom. With a forceful motion, he threw her onto the bed and leaned over, pinning her down.
“Justin! You bastard! Let me go!” Emily struggled fiercely, but Justin only grew more determined. He yanked off Sean’s jacket, which he found so irritating, and tossed it across the room. Then he started pulling at her soaking wet dress.
“Justin, you perverted bully! If you want to act crazy, go find Emma. You have no right to touch me!
“Get away from me! Don’t touch me!” Emily twisted her body, dodging Justin’s hands and kicking at him with her. legs. But her strength did nothing to deter him, it only seemed to make him angrier.
Emily knew Justin well enough to recognize his intent. He was clearly set on forcing himself on her. Yet his heart was with Emma, and here he was, coming after her like some cheap replacement now that the real one was back.
Justin had no shame!
He didn’t think there was anything wrong with being with two women, but to Emily, he was utterly repulsive. She found him filthy. For all she knew, he could have slept with Emma during this period, over and over.
The more she thought about it, the more disgusted she felt.
“Don’t put your filthy hands on me!” Emily spat, her face contorted in disgust.
“Filthy? I’m a hell of a lot cleaner than you!” Justin shot back, his tone dripping with cold contempt. He leaned down, aiming to kiss her.
Emily turned her head, evading him, and bit down hard on his neck, refusing to let go until the taste of blood filled her mouth.
Justin didn’t flinch, even as she bit deeper. His eyes were locked on her neck, noticing a few red marks.
Were those from Sean?
Did they sleep together?
They really slept together!
Vivid, unspoken images surged through Justin’s mind. It felt like a tear had opened up in his chest, and a cold, furious wind was ripping through it, fanning his anger even more.

The thought of it made his blood boil, a mix of rage and jealousy flooding through him. His eyes were bloodshot as he stared, as if he could erase the marks just by glaring at them.
Emily, oblivious to his reaction, continued biting down with all her strength. When he finally felt the pain intensify, and blood began to trickle down his neck, Justin snapped back to the present.
Blood dripped down onto Emily’s face, and some even spattered onto the bed. Justin gripped Emily’s chin with one hand, applying just enough pressure to pull his neck free from her bite. Then he stood up, moving to the foot of the bed, and looked down at her with a cold, disdainful glare.
His lips curled into a sneer, and he spat out, “Emily, you’re truly pathetic.”
Without another glance, he turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind him with a deafening crash.
