Emily accepted the bag. “Thanks.”
She hadn’t expected Sean to be so quick. She had only just added him on her contacts, and he had already arranged for the medicine to be delivered. Without fuss, she took the bag and sent him a quick thank–you message on her phone.
As she opened the bag, she noticed it didn’t just contain anti–inflammatory ointment. There were also packets of cold medicine and some sleep aids.
Cold medicine? Tonight was as warm as summer, unlike the past few days when it had been cooler at night. The water wasn’t cold either, so she didn’t see the need for it.
But the sleep aid was thoughtful. After her accident, she had developed a lingering fear of water, and being suddenly pulled into the pool had shaken her. This might help her settle before bed.
She was impressed at how thorough Sean had been.
The doorbell rang again, and when she opened it, there stood Sean, holding another bag of medicine with a smile.
“Sean!” Emily exclaimed, surprised. She had thought it was housekeeping coming to change the bedding
“I brought the medicine for you, Miss Emily,” he said, lifting the bag with a grin.
Medicine? Then what about the bag she had just received? Emily glanced back at the table where the other bag sat, suddenly confused.
If Sean had only just arrived, who had sent the first one?
A name popped into her mind. Could it have been Justin?
Besides Sean, he was the only one who knew she had been injured and had fallen into the pool, and who also knew her and her room number.
Could it really be him? He left in such a rage just now.
Better safe than sorry, she thought. Emily returned to the living room, tied up the bag from the table, and tossed it into the nearby trash can.
If it wasn’t from Justin, she couldn’t take the risk with medicine from an unknown source. And if it was from him, she had even more reason to get rid of it.
Sean followed her, noticing the discarded bag on the table and then watching as she threw it away. He raised an eyebrow, and though he didn’t say anything, he seemed to understand the situation, giving a little smirk of satisfaction.
He pretended not to notice, settling onto the couch and opening the bag he had brought.
“I’ll help you apply the medicine,” he offered, holding up a patch for sprains and bruises.
“I can do it myself.” Emily politely declined, not because she was being cold, but because she wasn’t used to people she didn’t know well getting too close.
“Your right hand is sprained. It’ll be hard to manage with one hand,” Sean mumbled.
Emily took the patch from him with her left hand, swiftly applying it herself. “Done.”
Sean scratched his head, giving a shy smile as he realized his attempt to get closer had been spotted and foiled.

Meanwhile, in Sean’s room, a group of his rowdy friends, including the red–haired boy, were playing cards. “Sean invited us here to celebrate his family’s new resort, said we’d have a blast, and then he just disappeared!” one of the boys complained.
“He’s off chasing after his latest crush, that’s why!” another replied with a grin. “He even had me run errands to buy a bunch of medicine. I heard she got hurt!”
“Medicine? Are you sure it wasn’t, you know, something else?” a third boy joked, winking.
“Don’t lump Sean in with you. He’s got standards!”
“Wait, wasn’t she the one from the parking lot? The lady we got into an accident with?” someone else piped up.
“Oh, so it’s an older woman, huh?”
“Geez!” the red–haired boy muttered, cursing under his breath. “Is it that old woman we argued with? What’s Sean even thinking?”
“Take it easy. Sean’s tough, and he’s not one to get attached. The girls come and go all the time,” one of the guys said, trying to calm him down.

Time flew by, and the three–day, two–night resort getaway came to an end.
Over the past few days, Helen and Sean had gone from a rough start to becoming friends. With their naturally outgoing personalities, they quickly hit it off and started calling each other friends.
