Chapter 26
Harry’s eyes flashed with malice.
After hearing Harry’s suggestion, Justin glanced at him briefly before shifting his gaze to Mr. Ziegler, who looked smug.
“So, this is the plan after the loan was denied?” Justin thought.
As the Vice President of RC Corporation, Harry had been trying to siphon off company funds through a shell company. It seemed his uncle was getting sloppy with age.
Over the years, Harry’s projects had become less and less profitable, while he been lending more and more money to his questionable friends.
Justin had turned a blind eye, largely out of respect for his grandfather. If it weren’t for that, Harry would have been removed from his position a long time ago, replaced by someone more competent.
“Mr. Ziegler certainly has experience, but he’s been overseeing the traditional sectors. A project focused on developing new energy technologies is better suited to someone younger,” Justin replied calmly, his authority undeniable.
Despite being publicly opposed by his uncle, Justin remained unflustered, countering with measured words. “Mr. Xavier may not have as much experience as Mr. Ziegler, but he’s earned his role as director in just a few short years, which speaks to his capability. Moreover, he has been deeply involved in research on new energy. I’m confident he’ll manage this project well.”
Harry had a history of swooping in on others‘ projects, using his seniority to claim them as his own. Mr. Xavier, the director, had been worried that his new energy project would be taken, but Justin’s words reassured him.
Other executives, sensing the tension, buried themselves in their files, keeping quiet to avoid being caught in the crossfire.
Harry’s face flushed with anger. “What’s this kid trying to say? That I’m too old?” he thought furiously. He had been managing the company long before Justin was even out of diapers! He was Justin’s uncle, his elder. How dare he talk back to him?
Just as Harry was about to slam his fist on the table and protest further, Justin stood up. “Anyone else have concerns? No? Meeting adjourned,” he declared coldly, ignoring his uncle as he strode out of the room.
The rest of the executives quickly followed behind Justin, leaving Harry sitting in his chair, fuming. He slammed the papers onto the table in frustration.
Back in his office, Justin put Harry’s drama out of his mind and focused on the stack of work that had piled up over the past few days.
A message from Zac popped up, “The medical equipment has arrived and is in your warehouse for now. I’ll have it shipped to Northport on the 20th.”
“I have a private flight to Northport on the afternoon of the 20th for a two–day business trip. You’re welcome to join,” Justin had texted.
Zac responded, “Sounds good!”
After exiting the chat with Zac, Justin noticed a message from Emma, sent earlier that afternoon, “The housekeeper and nutritionist have arrived. Here’s the lunch they made for me, and I didn’t pick at my food. Make sure you eat lunch too, Justin!”

After replying to her, Justin checked the time. It was already past 1 p.m. It wasn’t uncommon for him to delay meals when work got hectic. He quickly grabbed a bite to eat before diving back into his tasks.
After wrapping up a long video conference, Justin felt a sharp pain in his stomach. He opened his drawer to grab some antacid, only to find that the last packet was already used, leaving just an empty box.
Justin dialed Sam’s number.
A knock echoed at the door.
“Come in,” Justin called out.
Sam entered the office, greeting him respectfully, “Mr. Yates, did you need something?”
