Chapter 36
“Just a week. Remember to be in Bay City by the 21st for the handover with the local government.”
Emily received the contact information for the Bay City government liaison shortly after.
“Got it.”
A week later, she boarded the plane to Bay City, carrying her finalized artwork submission. As soon as she settled into her seat in first class, a familiar voice sounded beside her.
“Emily!” Sean’s cheerful voice rang out again.
“Sean? What are you doing on this flight?” Emily asked, surprised and confused.
“Why, going on vacation, of course!” Sean replied, taking the seat next to hers. “So? Same flight?”
“Yep!”
Emily’s face clearly showed her disbelief.
Sean chuckled and explained, “Helen told me you’d be working in Bay City. She gave me the flight number and seat assignment, too.”
“Since we’re heading the same way, why not travel together!”
As Sean explained, he took out his phone, adjusted the beauty filter and his posture, and snapped a quick selfie with Emily. He added a caption and immediately posted it on his social feed.
Meanwhile, Emily was looking down, searching for her phone, completely unaware she had been caught in a candid photo. Her mind was occupied with figuring out how to deal with Helen, that “traitor” who had leaked her travel plans!
Finally finding her phone, she started typing a message to confront Helen. “She knew I was going for work, and she still dared to sell me out!” she silently remarked.
Right then, the flight attendant’s voice came over the intercom. “Ladies and gentlemen, the plane is about to take off. Please make sure your phones are either turned off or in airplane mode. In–flight Wi–Fi will be available once we reach cruising altitude. Please fasten your seatbelts…”
Emily reluctantly put her phone away, fuming. “Helen, just wait. I’ll deal with you when I get back!”
“Mr. Yates, our partnership is settled then!” The CEO of YY Global beamed, extending his hand.
Justin gave a firm handshake with a serious expression. “Rest assured.”
With the meeting concluded, Justin sat in the lounge, waiting for his assistant, Sam, to retrieve his luggage for the airport.
As he idly scrolled through his phone, a post from Sean popped up. In the photo, Sean smiled at the camera while Emily, in the background, seemed absorbed in searching for something. The backdrop was unmistakably an airplane cabin.
The caption read: “Off on a trip with someone I like!

An added heart emoji.
Justin’s expression darkened instantly, and his grip on the phone tightened as his mood plummeted.
“Mr. Yates, I’ve got your luggage,” Sam announced, slightly out of breath, hurrying over. He hadn’t noticed the oppressive air around Justin.
“Get Zac on the line, and let’s head to the airport!” Justin commanded sharply, standing up abruptly and striding
out.
“Ugh!” Sam, caught off guard, scratched his head in confusion. “What’s going on with the boss? Wasn’t it just a slight delay in picking up the luggage?” Sam wondered.
Besides, Miss Yates wasn’t even around anymore. With Mrs Zimmer handling the packing on her own, it was naturally slower. In addition, with the traffic, the delay wasn’t entirely his fault!

Emma arrived in the lounge adjacent to the CEO’s office at RC Corporation.
“Miss Xander, Mr. Yates isn’t in the office. He had a lunch meeting with the CEO of YY Global and headed straight to the airport afterward for a flight to Bay City,” the secretary explained politely to Emma.
“Did Justin mention what time his flight is?” Emma asked, eyeing the secretary with a hint of displeasure as she took in the woman’s curvaceous figure.
“Mr. Yates usually flies on a private jet for business trips, so I’m not sure of the exact departure time. Maybe you could give him a call?” the secretary suggested with a polite smile.
Inwardly, she didn’t think much of Emma. Despite looking somewhat similar to Emily, her personality couldn’t have been more different.
