Emily froze for a moment, then nodded reluctantly in agreement.
Sean noticed her hesitation and reached out to ruffle her soft hair, deliberately messing it up.
“Sean!” Emily snapped, glaring at him.
“Goodnight, Emily!” Sean called out cheerfully before darting off, leaving Emily standing there, fuming.

The next afternoon, Sean drove Emily to the Bay City government building.
“Wait in the car. I’ll be quick,” Emily instructed.
Sean obediently nodded.
Her meeting with the government contact went smoothly, and the artwork was finalized on the spot.
However, as she was leaving, she spotted Justin.
He was walking at the center of a group, surrounded by high–ranking government officials as they headed. straight toward her.
Emily quickly stepped into a side corridor to avoid them. She waited until they passed before leaving the building. “What’s Justin doing in Bay City?” she wondered. “And at the government building?
“Could it have something to do with the new district construction?” she guessed. After all, Yates Corporation was involved in real estate development.
Her artwork was for the pedestrian street in the new district. If it was connected to Yates Corporation, she wanted to avoid any further entanglements. Now that her work was done, it was best to leave as soon as possible.
With that thought, she quickened her pace back to the parking lot.
Once inside the car, she buckled her seatbelt and urged, “Take me back to the hotel. I’ll pack, and we’ll book tickets to return to Lincourt City right away.”
“Why the rush? Didn’t we agree to enjoy a little sightseeing? Your work’s done. It’s time to relax!” Sean replied cheerfully, clearly in a great mood as he started driving.
“When did we agree to that? I’m here for work, not fun!” Emily snapped.
“I’ve already talked to Helen about it. We’re taking you on a proper tour of Bay City and some other spots in the country,” Sean said with a teasing grin, glancing at her through his sunglasses,
Emily gritted her teeth. “That Helen again! Always selling me out!” She imagined dragging Helen onto a couch and giving her a good talking–to when she got back.
“Don’t worry,” Sean continued. “It’s already three o’clock. There aren’t any flights back to Lincourt City tonight. The earliest is tomorrow.” He glanced at his phone and added with a playful tone, “So let’s just have some fun first, okay? Please?”
Emily sighed, wondering if she was overreacting.
“What do you want for dinner?” Sean asked, smoothly changing the subject.
They ended up having a meal featuring Bay City’s local specialties before heading back to the hotel. Sean, as

usual, walked Emily all the way to her room.
“Tomorrow we’ll visit the Bay City Palace. The sun’s pretty strong, so make sure to wear sunscreen,” Sean reminded her, ever thoughtful.
Going sightseeing wasn’t a bad idea. After all, Justin was already with Emma and wouldn’t be bothering her anymore.
During the ride back, Emily had come to terms with it. Looking back, she realized she had been overly paranoid since the incident at the villa.
“No need to wake up early tomorrow. Just get up whenever you’re ready, and we’ll head out,” Sean continued to fuss.
“Okay, okay, I got it. We’ll coordinate over the phone. Stop magging,” Emily replied, nodding dismissively. She was tired and just wanted to shower and sleep.
“Goodnight, Emily. Don’t forget to text me!” Sean said cheerfully before finally leaving.
With Sean gone, Emily took a refreshing shower, ready to relax. She planned to watch a show, snack on the fruit salad she had just bought, and then call it a night.
Recently, she had been hooked on a hilarious and quirky drama series called “Peach Warrior vs. Flower Monster“. It was ridiculous but incredibly entertaining.
She had barely watched for a few minutes when the doorbell rang, echoing persistently.
Thinking it was Sean again, Emily frowned. “What does he want now? Didn’t we agree to text if something came up? He’s like an old man sometimes!” she silently remarked.
“Just a second!” she called out.
She quickly slipped out of her bathrobe, changed into proper clothes, and headed to the door.
