Chapter 46
No one responded to Emily’s thoughts. The embryos were still tiny.
She registered, scheduled the procedure, and the nurse efficiently completed the arrangements. The procedure was set for 3 p.m., and she was instructed to fast until then.
Sean, determined to stay by Emily’s side, decided not to eat either.
Seeing there were still a few hours until the appointment and with no food allowed, Sean suggested Emily rest in the car.
As they reached the hospital entrance, they ran into Zac, who was walking toward them.
“Emily? What a coincidence running into you in Bay City,” Zac greeted her naturally. “Are you feeling unwell?”
He glanced at Sean, giving him a polite nod. “Hi, Sean.”
“Hello, Zac,” Sean replied with a slight bow of his head.
“Just here for work,” Emily replied casually, brushing it off “I’ve had a bout of gastritis, so I came to get it checked out.”
Her pale complexion, worsened by skipping breakfast and the morning’s procedures, made her excuse believable, and Zac didn’t question it further.
“You’re at this hospital?” Emily asked, glancing at the building and then back at Zac, curious.
“It’s part of my family’s network,” Zac explained. “We received a shipment of medical equipment from abroad, so I came to inspect it.”
“I see. Well, I won’t keep you from your work.”
Emily quickly said her goodbyes.
In the afternoon, after finishing his work, Zac joined Justin, Emma, and Sam at the airport for their private flight back to Lincourt City.
“Justin, wait for me here. I’m just going to the restroom,” Emma said sweetly, handing him her handbag.
Justin took it without hesitation.
“Well, when did she show up? Doesn’t trust you, huh?” Sean joked, clearly oblivious to when Emma had arrived in Bay City.
Justin shot him a cold glare, his protective stance toward Emma unmistakable. “Keep your voice down.”
Zac’s thoughts drifted back to earlier. He suddenly recalled Emily’s pale face and upset stomach as she went to the hospital alone. Meanwhile, Justin was here, accompanying his ex–girlfriend from three years ago on a business trip.
“Why does Emily seem so pitiful in comparison?” he thought.
Zac completely overlooked Sean, who had been by Emily’s side the whole time. To Zac, Sean was just a student, not someone to be taken seriously as a man.
As they waited for Emma to return from the restroom, Sam stood nearby, glancing around as if searching for
someone.

Chapter 46
“Sam, who are you looking for?” Zac asked.
“I saw Miss Yates at the hotel earlier. She mentioned she’s on a flight back to Lincourt City this afternoon too,‘ Sam said quietly, sneaking a glance at Justin.
Zac raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. “Emily stayed at the same hotel as us? And she’s on the same flight? With her so–called gastritis, skipping meals, and now traveling, she must be completely worn out,” he thought.
He glanced over at Justin, who stood outside the restroom, holding Emma’s handbag with the air of a devoted boyfriend. That just made Emily’s situation even sadder.
Sam thought he had spoken quietly enough, but Justin heard every word.
Unconsciously, Justin’s gaze began scanning the surrounding crowds, searching for Emily.
Last night, for reasons even he couldn’t explain, he had looked up Emily’s room number and used a work excuse to visit her.
Just then, Emma returned. “Justin, I’m back. You can give me my handbag now.”
“I’ll hold it,” Justin replied casually, taking her hand instead.
With Emma’s hand in his right and her handbag in his left, justin led their group toward the VIP passage.
“Attention passengers, Emily Yates and Sean Smith. Your flight is now boarding. Please proceed to the gate to avoid delays.
The announcement echoed through the airport, calling for the remaining passengers.
