Chapter 55
Sam approached with a respectful inquiry. “Mr. Yates, how would you like me to handle the tabloid articles about you and Miss Xander?”
“Tabloids?” Justin frowned, clearly puzzled. He never paid attention to entertainment news.
Sam, realizing Justin was unaware, pulled out his phone and brought up the headline, handing it over.
“Shocking! RC Group CEO Justin Yates spotted with mystery woman. Rumored girlfriend seen accompanying him to a private residence. Is she the future Mrs. Yates?”
After skimming the article, Justin’s expression darkened with anger. His furrowed brows and simmering irritation were unmistakable.
“What is this nonsense?”
“Should I arrange for the article to be taken down?” Sam asked cautiously.
“Take it ” Justin began, but stopped mid–sentence, a thought crossing his mind. He considered Emma.
“No, leave it for now. Instead, find out Emily’s travel route and time back to Lincourt City,” he ordered, dismissing the idea of removing the article entirely.
“And her friend… what’s her name? Helen? Track her address. If Emily returns, she’ll likely stay with her.”
Sam nodded. “Understood.”
After Sam left, Justin rubbed his temples in frustration, sipping his coffee to focus on work. Moments later, his phone rang loudly on his desk.
It was his mother, Heidi.
The mere thought of his mother clashing with Emma gave Justin an instant headache. Without hesitation, he silenced his phone and returned to his tasks.
Later that evening, Justin returned to Villa One.
The living room was eerily quiet, dimly lit by a single lamp. The housekeeper and staff had long since retired for the night.
Justin kicked off his shoes and slipped into his house slippers, making his way to the bedroom alone.
In the past, this time of night would have been different.
Emily would usually doze off on the living room sofa, groggily waiting for him to come home. She would call out to him in her soft, sleepy voice, asking him to carry her to bed.
Back then, he felt nothing about those moments. Even the night they argued and she left, all he experienced was a sense of relief, freedom to fully commit to Emma.
But now, as he stood in the empty, silent living room, the absence of her presence hit differently.
No one was there to wait for him, no one would be upstairs in bed, and her clothes no longer filled the closet.
The emptiness weighed on him, a growing unease clawing at his chest.
Emily.

He repeated her name silently, as if trying to tether himself to something tangible.
Picking up his phone, he called Sam.
“Find out which school Sean attends. Sponsor a guest lecture there and ensure Sean is selected to participate,” Justin instructed, his tone sharp.
“Also, contact the Smith family. Arrange a business partnership that will require Sean to return and join,” he added with cold precision.
Sam froze momentarily. Was Mr. Yates, the CEO of an international corporation, seriously targeting a high school senior? Over Emily?
“Sam, did you hear me?” Justin’s cold tone snapped him back.
“Yes, Mr. Yates,” Sam replied, snapping back to attention.
“And another thing,” Justin continued. “Locate Emily and arrange for someone to escort her back to One Villa.”
“Escort? More like force,” Sam thought to himself, though he didn’t dare say it out loud.
“Yes, Mr. Yates,” Sam replied.
“Make sure it’s discreet. I don’t want unnecessary people finding out,” Justin instructed.
“Unnecessary people? Did that include Emily herself?” Sam wondered.
“Understood, Mr. Yates,” Sam replied firmly.
