Chapter 62
Emily and Sean were chatting and laughing, happily discussing what to order for their hotpot later. The mood was light and carefree.
Across the street, Justin spotted them as he approached. The sight froze him in his tracks, his expression darkening further.
He had gone to great lengths to track Emily down. Monitoring Sean’s social media, using connections to get Sean’s new license plate number, and even pulling favors with the Department of Transportation to access highway surveillance footage. After piecing everything together, he had finally pinpointed her location this evening.
He had dropped everything to come straight here personally, only to find Emily acting all cozy with Sean!
Justin’s expression darkened, exuding the aura of a man catching like someone catching his partner red–handed. With long, determined strides, he headed straight for the entrance with his entourage of black–suited bodyguards trailing behind. Passersby stopped and stared, instinctively stepping aside to let him through.
Emily felt the intensity of an icy, dangerous stare and looked up, her heart skipping a beat.
It was Justin.
And behind him, a line of bodyguards.
What was he doing here? Shouldn’t he be with Emma?
Sean noticed him too, his brows furrowing as he instinctively tightened his grip on Emily’s wrist.
“Don’t worry, Emily,” Sean whispered, leaning close. “I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Despite his protective words, Emily couldn’t shake the ominous feeling gnawing at her. She nodded quietly, letting Sean guide her toward the parking lot.
But before they could get far, Justin and his bodyguards surrounded them.
Sean stepped in front of Emily, shielding her. His gaze was sharp, unwavering as he faced Justin.
“Emily,” Justin barked, his deep voice cold and commanding. His eyes burned as he stared at her petite frame peeking out from behind Sean.
He extended a hand and spoke in a cold tone. “Come here.”
Emily rolled her eyes, her irritation palpable. She stood her ground, not moving an inch.
Around them, curious onlookers began taking out their phones, ready to capture the scene unfolding. Noticing this, William instructed one of Justin’s bodyguards to block them.
“Emily,” Justin repeated, his voice growing sharper, his frustration evident. “I’m not going to say it again. Come
here.”
Emily peeked over Sean’s shoulder, her large eyes blazing with defiance.
“And why should I?” she snapped. “We’re done, Justin! There’s nothing between us anymore. Stop pretending to care and acting like some jealous ex. You don’t get to drag me around like this!”
As if to make her point clear, Emily stepped forward and deliberately took Sean’s hand, holding it tightly.
“See this? I’m with him now,” she declared, her voice steady.

Sean glanced at her briefly, understanding her intention. Playing along, he tightened his grip on her hand, raising it slightly to show Justin.
“Mr. Yates,” Sean said with calm defiance. “You and Emily broke up. You need to respect that. You’re a public figure, after all. Stop creating a scene over my girlfriend. It’s unbecoming.”
“His girlfriend?” Justin scoffed, pressing his tongue against the inside of his cheek, a derisive sneer spreading across his face.
Girlfriend? He hadn’t agreed to any breakup.
Scoffing, Justin interrupted, his voice laced with mockery. Sean, do you even know who she is to me?”
He pointed directly at Emily, his sharp tone cutting through the air.
“She’s not my ex, Sean. She’s under contract as my mistress. A deal that still has three months left before it expires. So no, she isn’t your girlfriend. She’s still mine, professionally and personally.”
