Chapter 72
Emily sat in the car and thought it through.
Since she couldn’t escape for now, she might as well take care of herself, starting with a full stomach. There was no point in getting angry. Being mad wouldn’t solve anything. Finding a way to leave was the real priority.
Her mood shifted quickly.
When they arrived at the mall, Emily headed straight to the food court.
It wasn’t a busy time, so the restaurant was quiet. Justin wasn’t hungry, but Emily devoured her meal with such intensity that someone might think he hadn’t been feeding her.
After finishing her meal, Emily started shopping, swapping out her heels for a comfortable pair of flats.
It was Justin’s first time accompanying a woman on a shopping trip. Not knowing what else to do, he followed behind, swiping his card to pay for everything and carrying her bags.
Seeing that he could both pay and carry, Emily made sure to rack up his expenses, even picking up gifts for Helen and Mrs. Zimmer.
She considered buying something for Sean too. He had been kind to her in the past few days but with Justin right next to her, she decided against it.
Once Emily was done shopping, she was ready to leave, but Justin blocked her path, standing firmly in her way. He looked upset and demanded, “Emily, you bought something for everyone else, but nothing for me, the one paying for it all?”
Emily blinked in confusion. “You don’t need anything. What am I supposed to buy you?”
She tried to push him aside, but he wouldn’t budge. Frustrated, she tried to walk around him.
Justin, suddenly sulking, grew irritated. He spent all this time and money shopping, and she didn’t think to get him anything? How unfair.
Grabbing Emily’s hand, he pulled her toward the men’s section.
Without realizing it, Justin felt most at ease when he was with Emily. He even acted jealous and threw childlike tantrums around her.
Emily casually picked out a few items for him in the men’s section, and only then did Justin seem satisfied.
When they had shopped enough, Emily wanted to eat dinner.
Justin looked down at her and asked, “Aren’t you usually trying to lose weight? Your appetite’s been huge lately. Aren’t you worried about getting fat?”
Emily froze for a moment.
He was right. She hadn’t even realized it herself until Justin pointed it out.
Although she often talked about getting an abortion, she subconsciously ate more, instinctively trying to provide nutrients for the babies.
Now that Justin wouldn’t let her leave, she had no chance to go through with the abortion. Once her belly started to show, the truth would be impossible to hide.
To be honest, not going through with it at the beginning probably meant that the longer she carried them, the less

willing she would be to let them go.
Her eyes flickered. “I just don’t feel like dieting anymore. Is that a problem?”
After dinner, Emily was exhausted. Unable to walk any farther, she took a car back to the hotel.
Once there, she took a shower, changed into her new comfortable pajamas, and began unpacking her new clothes. Standing in front of the mirror, she tried each item on one by one, seemingly tireless.
By the time Justin finished his shower and came out wearing only a towel, he was ready to get close to her and engage in some “healthy pre–sleep exercise.”
But what he found instead was Emily fast asleep on the sofa, softly snoring.
Suspicious, Justin doubted she could have fallen asleep so quickly while he was in the shower.
Walking over, he kissed her gently, then less gently, starting from her face and moving downward.
But no matter how long he kissed her, Emily didn’t stir, not even a twitch. She was genuinely asleep, and even started snoring louder.
Frustrated, Justin sat up, glancing down at himself, his expression dark.
Gritting his teeth, he stood and stormed back to the bathroom for a cold shower.
Halfway there, he paused and turned back, an idea forming in his mind.
Picking up Emily’s phone, he unlocked it with her fingerprint and re–added his number and messaging details to her phone. He even pinned their conversation to the top of her messages.
Scrolling through her contact list, he noticed there were only three saved numbers.
When he opened her messages, he saw that she had texted Sean, and Sean had even replied. It seemed Emily hadn’t seen it yet.
Without hesitation, Justin blocked and deleted Sean’s contact.
Only then did he return to the bathroom for his cold shower
He stayed in there for a long time, and when he finally came out, he dried himself off, walked over to Emily, and carried her from the sofa to the bed. Lying down beside her he soon drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, Emily woke up to the sensation of being kissed.
In her half–asleep state, she dreamed of a large, fuzzy caterpillar crawling all over her face and body.
