Chapter 76
Chapter 76
While scrolling through her phone, Emily realized Sean’s contact was gone.
Justin!
She didn’t need to think twice. It had to have happened while she was asleep, with Justin unlocking her phone and tampering with it.
Frustrated, she disabled the fingerprint lock and switched to a password–only entry. She added Sean’s contact back and sent him a message explaining the situation. She wasn’t sure if he had noticed being blocked and deleted, but she hoped to smooth things over.
As these thoughts swirled in her mind, she walked back to the branch manager’s office and resumed idly scrolling on her phone while waiting.
Today, without high heels, her feet felt much more comfortable.
While she was lounging in boredom, a middle–aged woman barged into the office.
The woman’s sharp gaze fell on Emily, scanning her from head to toe.
Emily wore a fitted black dress with a high slit that revealed her thighs. Her fair complexion was complemented by a touch of makeup, and her bold red lipstick drew attention to her striking features. Her figure was curvaceous, almost too perfect, as if enhanced.
To the woman, Emily exuded the aura of a manipulative homewrecker, someone whose only goal was to seduce
men.
Her envy quickly morphed into anger.
Storming into the room, the woman pointed a trembling finger at Emily and began yelling furiously.
“You shameless vixen! Have you no decency? Seducing the boss and ruining someone else’s family–don’t you have any shame?
“Didn’t your mother teach you better, you lowly tramp?”
Emily, sitting peacefully on the sofa, was dumbfounded by the sudden verbal attack.
“Not again! Is this another repeat of yesterday’s drama?” she thought to herself.
Justin truly seemed to bring her nothing but trouble.
Emily stood up from the sofa, her expression cold and her voice sharp. “Who are you? Barging into the office and yelling at me without understanding the situation. Aren’t you afraid of offending the wrong person?”
“Who am I?” The woman let out a cold laugh, her tone mocking. “I’m the of the branch’s general manager! Do you think I’m afraid of offending a mistress like you who’s seducing my husband?
“Oh, I’m talking to you, all right!” she snapped.
“The branch manager’s wife? He has someone on the side too? When the boss sets a bad example, the employees follow suit. Isn’t Justin the same way too?” Emily scoffed inwardly.
She looked at the woman, her voice calm but forceful. “You’ve got the wrong person.‘
She could see the woman’s situation was pitiful and didn’t want to argue with her further, but she wasn’t about to let herself be slandered either.
Chapter 76
“There’s no way I’ve got the wrong person! My brother told me everything last night. It’s you!” the woman shouted, her demeanor almost hysterical.
Her brother? Emily’s mind clicked. It must have been the male colleague who got fired yesterday.
Emily’s expression turned colder. “I suggest you calm down. If you’ve got the wrong person, you’re only embarrassing yourself. Meanwhile, your husband’s actual mistress will be laughing at you from behind your back.”
But the woman refused to believe she had made a mistake.
Her brother couldn’t have been wrong. It had to be this woman. Emily was the one stirring up trouble, getting her brother fired, and now trying to ruin her family. The middle–aged woman wasn’t about to let this “homewrecker” off the hook.
At that moment, a few employees outside heard the commotion and rushed into the office.
One of them grabbed the middle–aged woman and, glancing at Emily, quickly tried to diffuse the situation. Ma’am, she’s the CEO’s girlfriend!”
Girlfriend?
Emily’s frown deepened. She wasn’t Justin’s girlfriend. Emma was. Right now, she was nothing more than a mistress, one she had been forced to become.
The middle–aged woman froze, her anger dissipating as a flicker of panic crossed her face.
“Did I mess up? Have I caused trouble now?” she thought.
Justin finished his meeting and returned to the office with a group of staff, including the branch manager.
The branch manager immediately spotted his wife and felt a wave of dread.
((
One of the employees who understood the situation leaned in and whispered the details into the branch manager’s
ear.
Realizing what had happened, the branch manager shot his wife a furious glare.
