Chapter 78
Justin cut the steak on his plate into neat pieces and handed it to Emily, then swapped her plate with his. He brought her plate of steak, where she had been cutting one bite at a time, over to himself.
After finishing their meal, they returned to the hotel to pack and head to the airport.
They had arrived with just one suitcase, but by the time they left, they had three. Justin handed his own suitcase to William and reached for Emily’s two.
“Let’s go,” he said.
At the airport, Emily noticed a stall selling fried chicken and fruit bowls. Thinking about the hours–long flight back to Lincourt City, she decided to buy some to bring on the plane.
After paying, Justin grabbed the bag of fried chicken. “Emily, you ate plenty of steak earlier, and now this? You’re eating like a pregnant woman.”
Emily froze for a second, then casually walked ahead of him, rolling her eyes. “You’re the one who’s pregnant!” she retorted.
“If you think I’m eating too much and can’t afford it, feel free to stop paying,” she added sarcastically.
“Oh, really? If I don’t pay, who will? Sean?” Justin shot back.
Justin couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy as he thought about Emily spending time with Sean just a few days ago. They went shopping, visited the supermarket, and even went to Jupiter Land together.
Speeding up, he caught up to Emily and grabbed her arm.
“Emily, am I not more generous than Sean? What did he buy you during those two days together? Just some food, right? Did he get you clothes? Jewelry?
“A man who truly cares about a woman wouldn’t hesitate to spend money on her!”
Emily felt her ears buzzing from his constant chatter. She quickened her pace, trying to avoid him.
“All he did was take you to Jupiter Land, right? If that’s what you like, I can take you too. Better yet, I could build one for you. How about that empty seaside lot? I could have it built there just for you.”
Justin’s words were as exaggerated and insincere as ever, sweet talk designed to appease her when he was in a good mood.
Emily didn’t believe a word of it and didn’t bother responding. Seeing she couldn’t shake him off, she jogged onto the plane.
“Ugh, you’re so annoying! Can’t you be quiet for once?” she snapped.
“Nope!” Justin said smugly, striding after her onto the plane.
After a nearly four–hour flight, they landed in Lincourt City It was already late at night.
In the VIP corridor, Justin held Emily’s hand as they walked toward the exit. Just before reaching it, he spotted Emma waiting at the pickup area.
Quickly, he turned his back to Emily, shielding her from view.
With a calm expression and a low voice, Justin said, “I’ll have William take you back first. You can stay at the villa. I have something else to take care of. If I have time, I’ll come back later. If not, just go to bed. Don’t wait for me.”

Emily lowered her head. She had already noticed Emma waiting nearby.
“His work is finished. What else could he have to do?” she thought. “Of course, he’s going to see Emma. He probably won’t even come back tonight and will just stay at her place.”
Her feelings were complicated. She wasn’t heartbroken like before. Her love for Justin had faded, and the pain she used to feel was gradually disappearing. But being stuck in the middle of a couple still felt deeply unsettling.
After all, she was nothing more than the mistress right now
Once the contract ended, Emily would leave. But she doubted that Justin, who never kept his promises, would let her go easily. She knew she would have to rely on herself to find a way out.
Without making a fuss, Emily simply nodded quietly to show she understood.
Justin reached out and ruffled her hair.
William grabbed both of Emily’s suitcases and led her toward another exit.
“William, let me take one of the suitcases,” Emily offered, noticing he was carrying both.
“Miss Yates, I’ve got it. Please just get in the car,” William replied, his face expressionless as he walked ahead.
