Chapter 85
Helen’s sharp tongue could really be infuriating at times.
“Where are you taking me?” Helen asked, suddenly feeling a bit nervous about Zac’s silence and determined demeanor.
“I’m taking you home!” Zac replied firmly.
When the car stopped, Helen looked out, her tipsiness fading slightly as confusion set in. “Zac, this isn’t my house. Where the hell are we? Take me home!”
Zac got out, opened her door, and unbuckled her seatbelt. “My home is your home!” he declared. Without waiting for her reply, he steadied her wobbling steps and led her into his place.
“Zac, let go of me! You’re tangled up with another woman, and now you’re dragging me to your house? Let go!” Helen protested, struggling against his grip.
“I’m not tangled up with anyone. I’ve never had another woman. I only like you!” Zac said, his voice laced with frustration.
“I don’t believe you!”
“Come home with me, and I’ll prove it to you!”
“Who cares?”
“I care!” Zac shot back.
Once inside, Zac shut the door and, without another word, leaned down and kissed her. His first kiss.
Caught off guard, Helen blinked, her lips tingling. It tasted better than she expected. It was better than jelly. Before she realized what she was doing, she pounced on him, throwing him off balance.
The next morning, Emily slept in late, waking to sunlight pouring through the windows. She glanced at her phone. It was already past 9 a.m.
Looking around, she realized she was still in the guest bedroom. Relieved, she got up, freshened up, and headed downstairs to the living room.
To her surprise, Justin wasn’t around. He must have gone to work already, she thought. With him gone, her mood lightened considerably.
Thinking about how Justin dragged her away yesterday, Emily couldn’t help but wonder how Helen was doing. She sent Helen two messages, but there was no reply. She was probably still asleep, sleeping off the drinks from last night.
“Miss Yates, you’re up! Come have breakfast,” Mrs. Zimmer called out with a cheerful smile, her hands busy setting bowls on the table.
The delicious aroma hit Emily’s nose, making her stomach growl.
“What did you make?” she asked, sitting down.
“Ravioli–black truffle, lobsters, and creamy salmon filling,” Mrs. Zimmer replied, beaming.
“Wow, you read my mind! I was craving ravioli last night!” Emily exclaimed, taking a bite and immediately moaning in satisfaction. “Delicious!”

“I didn’t know,” Mrs. Zimmer said with a chuckle. “Mr. Yates told me this morning.
Emily choked mid–bite, coughing violently. Mrs. Zimmer quickly patted her back.
“Slow down, dear.”
Emily’s face flushed red as she regained her composure. It must have been Justin craving it himself, she thought, brushing off the moment and diving back into her meal. Before long, she had devoured more than she expected.
Mrs. Zimmer watched her with a smile. “You know, when I was pregnant, I could eat like this too,” she said casually.
Emily froze mid–chew, choking again in shock.
After finishing her meal, Emily heard soft footsteps approaching from behind. Turning around, she saw Justin, coming down the stairs.
“Shouldn’t he be at work? What’s he still doing here?” Emily thought.
It turned out Justin had been in the study, wrapping up some urgent work. He pulled out a chair at the dining table just as Mrs. Zimmer set another bowl of ravioli in front of him.
Without hesitation, Justin began eating, finishing off the side dishes Emily had barely touched.
Seeing him eat, Emily quietly stood, attempting to leave unnoticed.
“Sit down,” Justin said abruptly, not even glancing up.
“I’m done. I need to pack my things,” Emily replied.
“Wait until I finish. As a contractual companion, you need to have a service–oriented attitude. Make sure your employer has a pleasant dining experience.”
“Excuse me-”
“It’s in the contract,” Justin interrupted, his face impassive. “Or did you really think being a companion meant just lying in bed and getting paid?”
Emily hesitated, biting back a retort, and reluctantly sat down, pulling her legs back under the table.
“Who wants your stupid money, anyway?” she fumed silently.
