“Ellie misunderstood me before. I just wanted to mend fences with her, not make her drink so much,” Haley said, looking at Alex awkwardly.
As Alex stared intently at Ellie with a gloomy look, she quickly pulled Alex back to his seat. “Alex, I know you care about me. Ellie’s already had her drink, so don’t blame her. Just sit down.”
Ellie put down her glass and accidentally brushed her fingers against the fork on the plate, quickly pulling her hand back in pain.
“Ellie, your hand is bleeding.” Lacey quickly grabbed a napkin and handed it over.
Ellie took the napkin and pressed it against her injured finger, “I’m going to the restroom.”
She stumbled into the restroom, splashing cold water on her flushed cheeks over and over. Those who are favored are always fearless, so Haley could lie openly without worry. Meanwhile, Ellie had to keep her grievances to herself, even if she felt wronged.
Because she was having a crush on Alex secretly, she didn’t even have the right to be jealous. Life wasn’t like the movies, and she couldn’t read anyone’s mind. In her moments of frustration, she hated herself for not being able to control her emotions.
Some said one could forget his love either with time or with a new flame. Ellie chose time, using distance to let go of her obsession with Alex.
But those forgotten through time couldn’t bear a reunion; just one look into his eyes, and her hidden feelings would flood back. Yet, she also knew trying to forget with a new love was just fooling herself, and it might drag an innocent person into

The deepest cage in her heart was the one she locked herself in. She believed that if she faced her feelings bravely and worked hard to let go, one day when she saw Alex again, the heart that had fluttered for him for so many years would finally be calm.
Not sure how long she’d been in the bathroom, Ellie stumbled out, feeling dizzy. She rarely drank, and this was the first time she had so much strong liquor. In such a short time, she felt like she was floating and her head was about to split open.
Ellie was feeling dizzy as she leaned against the wall, when suddenly someone grabbed her arm and pulled her into an unfamiliar room. Shocked, she quickly became soberer and saw it was Alex. She took a couple of steps back to put some distance between them.
They stared at each other, neither speaking first. Alex looked upset and reached for Ellie’s injured hand, but she moved back to avoid him.
Alex frowned and stepped forward, trying again to grab her hand. She moved back again.
For the third time, Alex reached for her hand, and for the third time, she backed away until she was against the wall and hid her hand behind her back.
With this repeated behavior, Alex lost his patience. He forcefully trapped Ellie in the narrow space between the wall and himself, grabbing her wrist to inspect her finger. She clenched her hand tightly, struggling hard to prevent him from seeing

“Have you had enough of this?” Alex lifted Ellie’s hands above her head and pressed her against the wall with his body, leaving her too scared to move.

Steadying her breath, Ellie met Alex’s gaze. “That’s my concern. Let go.“.
Alex slowly lowered Ellie’s hands but didn’t let go. “Is your head still spinning?”
Just then, Haley suddenly knocked on the door from outside. “Alex, is that you in there?”
