He rolled down the window and called for Haley to get in, but she didn’t move. Alex unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car. “Let’s talk about it when we get back.”
Haley petulantly pushed Alex away. “As long as those things are in Aaron’s hands, I won’t have peace. Do you even have a chance to get them back?”
Alex released Haley, his expression turning serious. “As long as you stop causing trouble for Ellie, I promise that evidence won’t be made public.”
“What guarantee do you have? You’re not him. How can you promise?” Seeing that Alex hadn’t retrieved the evidence, Haley’s voice broke in despair.
Looking at the somewhat hysterical Haley in front of him, Alex’s brow furrowed. “If you were him, would you delete those things so easily?”
Haley’s voice cracked with urgency. “If I hadn’t caught you and Ellie in a hotel room, how could I have done such a thing?!”

Alex’s jawline was taut, as if it were about to snap. He stared intently at Haley without speaking.
Seeing Alex’s silence, Haley felt inexplicably panicked. She unconsciously lowered her posture. ‘Alex, we’re engaged. My problems are your problems”

Alex said, “I think you know Aaron better than I do. As long as you don’t cause trouble for Ellie, they won’t use those things to threaten you. I can guarantee that.”
“Since you don’t want to go back, then stay and have more fun with your friends.” Seeing Haley’s friends approaching from a distance, Alex turned and got back into the car.
Haley, with red eyes, watched as Alex drove away. Her hands, hanging by her sides, clenched into fists.

In the dead of night, Aaron was awakened by a sudden knock on the door.
Under the streetlight at night, Haley began to cry before she even spoke. “Aaron, I know you hate me. I was also sad when I broke up with you.”
“For the sake of how much we loved each other in the past, could you please delete those photos and videos?” she asked.

Haley stood in place, watching Aaron’s retreating figure, desperately holding back and not daring to badger him further.
