As dusk fell, Ellie pushed open the door to a luxurious suite in the Earl Hotel.
Inside the private room, Alex was playing cards with a few people. Seeing Ellie, drenched from the rain, standing at the door, Alex pulled his gaze back carelessly and continued to shuffle the cards.

Haley’s recent scandals were all over the place. Everyone was aware of the delicate relationship between Alex, Ellie, and Haley, so they all looked at Alex.

A few minutes later, Alex was in his private suite at the Earl Hotel.
“Go take a shower.” Alex pushed Ellie into the bathroom.

Looking at the unconscious Ellie in his arms, Alex remained on one knee on the floor, his arms tightening around her involuntarily.
Alex’s forehead rested against Ellie’s. He said, “Ellie, you said you would never come back.”
Alex said, “Ellie, you were the one who didn’t want me first.”
Ellie woke up again to find herself in the back seat of a car.
Seeing that her clothes had been changed, Ellie struggled to sit up and looked at Alex beside her. “Where are you taking me?”
“Memorize this and speak according to the script. Don’t say a word more than what’s on it.” Alex handed Ellie a printed script with a blank expression.
Ellie scanned it from top to bottom.
If she followed the script, Haley would be portrayed as the victim. And Ellie would be regarded as a jealous, pathetic, and vicious woman who didn’t hesitate to strike her best friend with a deadly blow.
Ellie looked at Alex.
“After the press conference, no matter what happens in the future, I will never trouble Aaron again.” Alex took out the card again. “If you feel wronged, you can use this card as you wish.”
“Whatever you say; I have no grievances to speak of,” Ellie said, then lowered her head to memorize the script.
Alex stared at Ellie, feeling a suffocating tightness in his chest. Closing his eyes, he forcibly suppressed the reluctance in his heart and said, “It’s good that you understand.”
