It was Thanksgiving, and around noon, Alex received a call from Haley to rush to the hospital. When he arrived, Haley was in a complete meltdown.
Inside the hospital room, everything that could be thrown had been hurled around, leaving a mess everywhere. The moment Haley saw Alex walk in, she abruptly stopped crying.
The nurse beside her and Haley’s mother finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Annoyed, Alex kicked aside the measurement device blocking his path and approached the bedside. “When you made your choice, you should have anticipated all the possible outcomes. What’s the point of throwing a tantrum now that things are like this?”
With her hair a total disaster, Haley sobbed, “Alex, do you hate me too? Even if you helped erase the negative comments about me online, I’ve still ruined my reputation!
“My dad’s company is suffering because of this! I’m your fiancée, so why does your mom protect outsiders but not me?!” Seeing that Alex wasn’t saying anything, Haley continued to cry, “Your mom said such awful things about me at the press conference! She won’t even acknowledge me as her daughter–in–law! How am I supposed to face anyone out there?
“Just leave! Forget that I almost died saving you! Consider that necklace as my last wish, and I won’t return it. I don’t want to drag you down anymore–just let me deal with this on my own!“:
After saying that, Haley buried her face in the bed and cried uncontrollably.
Alex frowned deeply, staring at Haley with a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes before suddenly turning to leave.
Haley’s mother chased him to the elevator. “Please don’t be angry with Haley; she’s under a lot of stress! Her depression is worse than before. The doctors said she couldn’t handle any more shock. Just try to comfort her.”
“It’s Thanksgiving. I’ll go buy her something and come back to keep her company,” Alex replied, stepping into the elevator with irritation.
Haley stood at the doorway, watching her mom come back, and hurriedly asked, “Mom, what did he say?”
Haley’s mom led her back into the room and closed the door behind them. “He said he’s going to get you something and w be back later.”
Even with tears still in her eyes, Haley felt a smile creeping up on her lips. She thought, ‘Nancy, so what if you don’t approv of me being with your son? He’s still hanging around me every day!
‘He doesn’t even go home for Thanksgiving and insists on staying at the hospital with me! So what if you took Ellie in as a daughter? The moment I step into the Warren family, I won’t let her off the hook that easy! You won’t get to relax either, yo old hag!‘
Evening, at Ellie’s Apartment…
“Mom, you should take a break. I can handle this alone,” Ellie said.
In the kitchen, Ellie was busy preparing Thanksgiving dinner. When she saw her mom coming in to help, she gently pushe her back to the living room to keep her dad company.

“Aaron must be back with the turkey! I’ll go get it,” Ellie cheerfully called.
She opened the door and instantly froze when she saw Alex standing there.
