No matter how much Alex threatened to stop her, she was set on joining the Warren family! Becoming the adopted. daughter of the top–notch Warren family would mean she’d be under the protection of their elders.
By becoming a Warren, she could be considered siblings with Alex, finally letting go of her past.
Haley walked out of the hospital with her mom and spotted Aaron waiting by the curb. Without a second thought, she rushed over to stop him. “I need to ask you something.”
Aaron had no choice but to halt his steps.
“Are you a real man or not?” Haley challenged. “I’ve wasted over three years on you, and you secretly recorded me to catch my mistakes? I can’t believe I liked you so much back then!”
Aaron simply stared at Haley, his expression indifferent and unyielding.
Seeing that Aaron wasn’t going to respond, Haley softened her tone, “Let’s forget about the past. If you can convince Ellie to leave Jaslands, all our issues will be settled!”
Her tone was almost condescending as if she was offering a grand favor.
Aaron, cold and blunt, asked, “Are you done?”
Haley continued, “Look, the only heir to the Warren family is Alex. Even if Ellie joins the Warrens, she won’t benefit at all.
“Plus, the older generation in the family won’t be able to stop me from being with Alex. Sooner or later, I’ll become the lady of the Warren family, and don’t blame me if I treat Ellie badly then!”
“Good luck with that!” Aaron replied with cool detachment, turning on his heel and walking away.
As he walked off with such resolve, Haley bit her lip to suppress her frustration.
Haley’s mom finally approached after Aaron left, pulling her daughter aside. “Why are you looking for him when you’ve already broken up? If Alex sees you, you’ll have a lot of explaining to do.”
Haley was already angry, and her mom’s comment only fueled her rage further. “What if Ellie gets into the Warren family and then tries to steal Alex away?!”
Part of her hoped that Ellie and Alex would become siblings, which would mean they could never be together.
But another part worried that once Ellie was in the family, she might charm Alex and inherit all the Warren wealth, while also bad–mouthing her in front of the family elders anytime she wanted!
Haley was torn and on the verge of losing it. “Mom, what am I supposed to do?!”

It was past ten–thirty at the Encounter Bar on Old Alley. In a luxurious private room on the second floor, Layton snatched the drink from Alex’s hand.
“Several prominent families have already received your family’s invitation for the kinship banquet next week. There’s no way you can stop this; just let it happen,” Layton said matter–of–factly.
