Just after 9 PM, in a private room on the second floor of the Encounter Bar, Alex was drinking one after another, and Layton had lost count of how many drinks Alex had downed.
“Haley’s been searching for you like crazy, and you should call her back.” Layton said as he snatched Alex’s glass away.
Seeing Alex’s chest rise and fall with anger, Layton joked with a laugh, “Do you want me to call Ellie in to provoke you a bit more, and keep you bedridden for a few more days?”
Alex gave Layton a fierce look, then lit a cigarette.
Layton said. “No guy can stay indifferent when he knows a girl secretly liked him for seven years, especially since you’ve been living with Ellie for over ten years.
“But with all the paths you could have taken, why confront Ellic publicly at the welcome home party? You could have chosen another way!”
