In the room, a loud scream echoed, and Alex groggily opened his eyes, his head pounding and the effects of the alcohol still lingering.
He looked around at the group of people gathered around the bed, his pupils rapidly narrowing.
His gaze landed on Haley, and he immediately recognized his shirt. “Who gave you permission to wear my
clothes?”
Haley, feeling guilty, started crying and hurriedly explained, “I saw you were drunk and stayed to take care of you. Your clothes were dirty, so I took one of your shirts from the closet, thinking I’d just change and help you out.”
She continued, “I was going to leave after a while, but then Diana and Ellie burst in without asking anything and started hitting me.”
Diana rolled her eyes in disdain, deliberately trying to irritate her. “Well, well, the mistress herself. Do you always take care of men like this? Sitting on top of them? Who taught you, your mom?”
Ellie looked down, feeling guilty.
“Diana, you…” Haley screamed in frustration. “When you and Ellie came in, I had just finished taking a shower. Ask her if you don’t believe me…”
She pointed at Ellie. Ellie stood silently next to Nancy, a sarcastic smile on her lips.
Alex locked his gaze on Ellie’s mocking expression and instinctively looked down at himself. “Who the hell took my clothes off?”
Haley lowered her head in guilt. “Your clothes were dirty. I…”
Before she could finish, Alex violently threw off the blanket.
Ellie and Diana quickly turned away. Seeing that he was still wearing his dress pants, Alex let out a silent sigh of relief.
Alex got out of bed. Maybe it was from drinking too much or moving too suddenly, but his head started spinning and aching again. Instinctively, he reached out to grab Ellie’s arm for support.
In the next moment, Ellie swiftly dodged, stepping back several times.
With a thud, Alex suddenly fell off the bed.
He knelt on one knee, glaring at Ellie, who turned her head to avoid eye contact, focusing instead on the painting on the wall.
Alex gritted his teeth in frustration.
Diana, with a smirk, spoke up. “Alex, don’t touch Ellie with your filthy hands. Look at how scared you’ve made her.”
Alex shot Diana a murderous look. “Can you shut up?”
Diana continued, “When Ellie and I came in, you and Haley were definitely asleep. I’m not making this up, right Ellie?”
Everyone turned to look at Ellie.
Ellie cast a quick glance at Diana, who was giving her subtle signals, then reluctantly spoke up, “Yeah, they slept.”

Alex was momentarily stunned. “Ellie, stop making things up!”
Haley, seeing Ellie also lying, couldn’t hold back her sharp voice. “Do you dare swear on it?”
Ellie responded, “If you dare, I dare.”

Even though Haley hadn’t succeeded in her trick, the sight of her wearing Alex’s shirt, barely covering herself, made her intentions clear.
Haley clenched her hands at her sides, her anger rising, but she couldn’t find the words to respond to Ellie.
Diana spoke again. “I never make false accusations. If anyone doesn’t believe me, just ask Mr. Mosley.”
Once again, everyone turned their gaze to Layton.
Layton hadn’t expected gossip to stir up this much trouble, and his head was spinning.
“Yeah, they slept,” he chuckled smugly.
Alex ground his teeth, giving Layton a warning glare. “Layton, shut your mouth.”
“Shut your mouth!” Before Alex could finish, Nancy slapped him across the face.
“Mrs. Warren, don’t hurt your hand. Here,” Diana handed Nancy a blow dryer she’d grabbed from the bathroom.
“Get lost, Diana.” Alex snatched the blow dryer out of her hand.
“Ellie,” Diana called as Ellie watched the chaos unfold. When she saw Diana signaling her again, Ellie reluctantly handed Nancy a slipper. “Mom…”
“Ellie, you ungrateful brat!” Alex was being pinned to the bed by his mom, trying to grab the slipper from her hands, but Ellie quickly dodged away.
“You guys take your time talking. I’ll wait outside,” Ellie said as she handed Nancy the slipper and picked up the blow dryer from the floor, ready to leave.
