Chapter 312
At noon, Ellie arrived at the restaurant based on the address Diana had given her. As soon as she stepped through the door, Diana grabbed her and quickly pulled her into a corner.
Following Diana’s gaze, Ellie finally noticed that Aaron was there too. More specifically, he was meeting with his blind date.
Ellie looked at Diana, and seeing her uncertain expression, Dian shrugged and said, “I happened to pass by and saw them. I thought I’d invite you to join me for a bit of fun. Let’s go listen to what they’re saying.”
Diana tugged Ellie forward a bit.
“I have a decent job, but we just moved here from the countryside. We’re renting a place. I don’t have a car or any savings.” Aaron said honestly, “My mom is from a rural family and doesn’t have a pension.
“Therefore, right now, I’m not ready for marriage.”
The woman sitting across from Aaron had long hair and was very young and beautiful, exuding an intellectual aura. She seemed like quite a catch, but sitting across from Aaron, with his tall, handsome appearance and confident demeanor, she paled in comparison.
The woman wasn’t angry at all when she heard Aaron’s words. “It’s fine. Since you’re open about it, it shows you’re a good person. Honestly, I’m more concerned about character than all the visible and material things.
“If you don’t mind, how about we add each other on WhatsApp? Whether or not we get married is not something to think about right now, but we can be friends first.”
With the conversation going that far, Aaron couldn’t really refuse. They exchanged WhatsApp contacts.
“I still have work this afternoon, so I’ll be leaving now,” Aaron said as he called over the waiter to settle the bill, then stood up and left.
At the restaurant’s revolving door, Aaron caught Diana and Ellie right in the act. With one hand on each of their shirt collars, he dragged them over to the flowerbed before letting go. “What are you doing here?” Aaron asked.
“Just passing by,” Diana and Ellie replied in unison.
Aaron’s gaze flickered between Diana and Ellie before he asked, “Have you had lunch?”
“I have!” said Diana.
“No!” Ellie said.
Aaron looked at Diana’s frustrated face and said, “Let’s go. I’ll take you both to eat.”
“I told you I already had lunch.” Diana rolled his eyes at Aaron, walking away in her high heels. Aaron didn’t chase her but stood there, frowning in deep thought.
Over ten minutes later, Aaron and Ellie arrived at a pasta shop and ordered two bowls of pasta.
“Hey, do you know why Ms. Grant is so mad?” Ellie asked, staring at Aaron while holding her fork. Aaron poured a glass of water for Ellie. “Hurry up and eat, or the pasta will get soggy.”

Ellie wasn’t in the mood to eat. Diana had said she wanted to pursue Aaron in front of her and Lacey, and Ellie had been struggling with whether to tell him about it.
Lately, Diana had been coming over to their house often. Every me she visited, she either brought wine or food and whenever it was mealtime, she’d always buy fish for Joanna to cook.
Diana had said she liked the tuna Joanna made. However, Ellie remembered that when they ate together, Lacey had mentioned that Diana never ate fish. She also noticed that Diana rarely tried the tuna Joanna made.
Ellie realized it and thought, ‘She must have bought it to get Mom to cook it for Aaron because he loves tuna.
