Joanna went to work as a cleaner at Whitney’s bar. Though it was a cleaning job, Whitney found Joanna the easiest tasks–In the storeroom, she unpacked and cleaned the bottles brought from the warehouse.
Whitney arranged for Joanna to work from five to ten in the evening, so she wouldn’t have to stay up late. Working alongside her was another lady around her age, whom Whitney carefully selected for her kindness.
Returning to her desk at noon, Ellie noticed a large bouquet of red roses from Leonard. Ellie picked up her phone and sent a message to Leonard.
Leonard replied almost immediately: [You deserve the best, and I’ll keep striving for it!]
Ellie could feel Leonard’s sincerity even through the screen. Every time, a text, a word, or even a meeting from Leonard would warm her heart.
The more she interacted with him, the more she felt that Leonard was genuinely a wonderful person.

After work, Ellie went home to change clothes before going out to meet Leonard. She bumped into Alex again at the entrance of her apartment complex.
He leaned against the car door, smoking. His black suit paired with a matching shirt made him look even taller and more impressive.
From a distance, he exuded a sophisticated and reserved aura. Alex glanced up at her, stubbed out his cigarette, and walked over to her.
Ellie looked around and headed directly to a small gazebo near the greenery. Since he came to find her, she couldn’t avoid him.
“Go ahead, what do you want from me now?” A row of bushes was between them, and Ellie kept a few meters away while talking to Alex.
Alex stepped over the bushes and approached Ellie. Ellie stepped back, and he kept getting closer. He didn’t stop until Ellie was backed up against a tree.
With one hand on the tree behind her, Alex took out a black card and handed it to Ellie. “Take the card.”
“I don’t want anything from you.” Ellie refused immediately.
Alex looked down at Ellie and said, “Ellie, you have to let me make it up to you. I’m giving you two options: take my card and visit your grandpa in the hospital, or come with me.”
Ellie knew exactly what he meant by “come with him“. But she wasn’t going to choose either option, “What if I choose neither?” Ellie tilted her head up to meet Alex’s eyes.
Alex said, “Then don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
“You-
”
Before Ellie could finish her sentence, Alex’s kiss came out of nowhere, filled with unspoken emotion.
By the small gazebo near the apartment entrance, Ellie was pinned against a tree by Alex as he kissed her intensely. The
she struggled, the more intense Alex’s kisses were, as if he wanted to meld her into himself.

In a suggestive kissing posture, the sound of their lips mixed with Alex’s heavy breaths, leaving Ellie’s mind in a whirl as she was suddenly lifted off the ground by Alex.
In her panic, Ellie bit down hard. The metallic taste of blood spread in their mouths, prompting Alex to kiss her even more wildly.
This was a public spot right at the neighborhood entrance; anyone she knew entering or leaving could easily see them with just a sideways glance.
She cried and thought, ‘He’s really lost it.‘ Hearing Ellie’s helpless sobs, all of Alex’s movements suddenly stopped.
He shifted her position, making her face away from the neighborhood, and placed her down, using his body to shield her from view.
His chest was rising and falling heavily, his breathing labored. He rested his forehead against Ellie’s, gently cradling her face with one hand. With a raspy voice, he tried hard to control himself, saying, “Ellie, can you choose now?”
