She said, “Out of the countless things you’ve said to me, only this one was true!” However, out of the countless things he had said to her, only this one was a lie.
He realized too late that when he understood she was the most important person in his heart, he no longer had the right. He owed her so much; how could he use her to swear such an oath. He was ready to do it!
Half past six in the evening, in the VIP ward of Jaslands Hospital Alex entered the lounge area, where his parents were present.

Nancy immediately noticed that something was off with her son. His eyes were as red as a frog looking for its mother. Nancy swallowed the words that came to her lips and chose not to expose him.
“The dinner Evan just brought, let’s eat together,” Nancy suggested, and the three of them gathered around the table for dinner.
Alex picked up the chopsticks, but he put them down without taking a bite. He pushed the inside of his cheek with his tongue, and the sharp pain quickly spread throughout his body, making his eyebrow twitch with the throbbing pain.
“What happened to your tongue?” Nancy asked. “Haven’t had meat lately and craving it?” With that, Nancy pushed a bowl of rib soup in front of her son.
Alex stared at the large bowl of rib soup in front of him and casually said, “I grabbed a bite outside, not hungry.” Saying that, Alex got up to visit his grandpa in the hospital room.
“Your grandpa just woke up for a bit and asked when you’re getting married.” Outside the door, hist
came through. Alex gripped the hospital bed’s rail so tightly his knuckles turned white.
mother Nancy’s voice
Nobody outside heard his response, and then his father Todd’s dissatisfied voice followed, “We’ve gone through several suitable families for a marriage alliance for you. If you can’t decide, when your grandpa wakes up again, we’ll decide for you.”
Listening to his parents discuss potential marriage candidates for him, Alex left the hospital room irritably, saying, “I’m going out for a smoke.”
Alex stood in the corridor, messaging Layton to meet up for a drink. Soon, Layton sent back a voice message.
Alex played it and Layton said, “You keep running to Ellie every day, and when you get beaten up, you call me out to drink with you. Do you think I’m your paid companion or something? Are you paying me?”
Alex was shocked.
Time swiftly moved to March. The weather was gradually getting warmer. But Carlos’s condition was worsening. After work, Ellie decided to visit Carlos.
Since the day Alex went crazy and handed her a card at the apartment complex entrance, he hadn’t appeared in front of her again.

Carlos used to treat her like his own granddaughter, lovingly caring for and protecting her for so many years. Now that he’s lying unconscious in the hospital bed, she had no reason not to worry.
In the corridor, Ellie saw Barry coming out of the hospital room from a distance and instinctively stopped, wanting to turn around and leave, but Barry called out to her, “Ms. Thompson, please come in.” Barry quickly opened the hospital room door.
Since that day when Mr. Warren kissed someone at the apartment door and got slapped, he seemed like a changed person. Every day, he just worked and stayed in the hospital room, not going anywhere else.
Occasionally, while drinking with Layton, he still has to stay here to keep watch, ready to tip off Ms. Thompson when she arrives. Ellie looked at Barry, hesitated for a moment, and then entered the hospital room.
