Chapter 334
“I only left because I saw two people who could swim already going to save you!”
Alex gripped Ellie’s shoulders tightly without realizing it and said, “I admit I’ve hurt you, but I’ve never disregarded your
life.”
“You did!” Ellie pushed Alex away again!
Ellie pushed Alex away again!
“Pushing me into the water might not have been deliberate, but when the fire broke out at the theater, you left me behind to save Haley! You didn’t care about my life.”
They locked eyes, and Alex couldn’t say a word.
That day, he knew he had been too focused on protecting Haley to notice her at all.
With pain in his eyes, he admitted, “I’m sorry. I really didn’t mean to overlook you.”
“I don’t want your apology!”
“I want you to make it right!”
Ellie, tired of hearing it, said, “It’s not that you neglected me; it’s like I never existed in your eyes.”
“What exactly are you trying to say?” Finally, Alex lost control.
His frustration bubbled over, veins popping out on his neck, resembling a trapped beast clawing for freedom. Teardrops brimmed in his eyes, tinted with a fiery red.
Ellie met Alex’s pained eyes with a calm expression, saying, “I want you to see yourself clearly.”
She continued, “No matter what happened between us, after my dad died, and after my mom took the death compensation and brought me out of the Warren family, there’s nothing left to discuss between us.
“I have someone I care about, and you have Haley. In between us lies my dad’s life and all the hurt you caused me because of Haley… And yet, you still want to toy with my feelings and my body? Don’t you think that’s shameful?”
The atmosphere was suffocatingly tense.
Alex stood stiffly in front of Ellie, staring at her for a long time before he finally spoke, “Believe it or not, I never intended to mess with you.”
Ellie shot back retorted, “Yes, you did.”
“You owe me for making my family fall apart when I was youngrying to save you, you owe the girl who secretly liked you
and you owe the girl I am now–scarred and just wanting to leave you.” for seven years,
Ellie held back her tears, her gaze determined and unyielding.
Sure, she was poor and as ordinary as could be.
But she had never done anything wrong, and she deserved to be created better.

Chapter 334
She didn’t want anyone’s apology; she just wanted to be true to herself.
“Put away your hypocrisy and nastiness, and stay as far away from me as possible!”
Ellie turned her back on Alex, waiting for the rain to stop and the day to break.
Behind her, Alex’s voice was low and heavy. “Even if I’ve hurt you, at least I really cared.”
Alex said, “Ever since you entered the Warren family, I’ve done everything to protect you. Even if everything I gave you seemed like unwanted freebies to you… What about you?”
He continued, “You’ve never given me any hints. All I’ve ever felt from you is indifference. You’ve never bothered to offer me anything willingly, have you?”
He was a jerk and didn’t treat her well.
But she wasn’t much better; she had never really opened her heart to him.
Ellie turned around, looking at Alex with a blank expression.
Her gaze slowly moved down to the white shirt hardened with blood.
After a brief hesitation, Ellie said, “Considering that you protected me in the past, I suppose I should give you a gift.”
Alex swallowed hard. “Really?”
Ellie stared at the massive patch of red on his chest, her tone softening slightly. “But just so you know, that was self–defense earlier, so don’t come after me for trouble.”
She had hurt him only because he pushed her too far.
Alex was wild, reckless, and unreasonable.
She had neither money nor influence; he didn’t even give her brother any respect, let alone someone like Leonard.
Even though she was the one at a disadvantage, she was worried that Alex would give her trouble and feared he might involve those around her.
“Put it on.” Suddenly, Alex bent down and picked up his jacket from the floor, draping it over her shoulders.
