Seeing Ellie in front of him, Alex suddenly bent down to pick up a suit jacket from the floor and placed it over her shoulders.

Ellie turned away and didn’t say anything.

Alex lay on his side next to Ellie, with his back turned to the shattered glass door.
He curled slightly, enclosing Ellie in front of him, gripping her wrist with his hand, and closed his eyes to rest.
Ellie could clearly feel the heat in Alex’s palm as he held her wrist.
Looking down at Alex’s suddenly pale face, she noticed cold sweat on his forehead and his breathing was noticeably quicker His symptoms seemed to be due to excessive blood loss, causing cold sweats, fatigue, and a pale look, and since his wound wasn’t treated in time, he had developed a fever.
Ellie couldn’t help but frown.
The surroundings were quiet, except for the sound of the raging typhoon and heavy rain outside.
Ellie’s hollow eyes gazed at the harsh environment outside, feeling a hard–to–describe gloom.
She recalled her early days with the Warren family; she used to be too scared to argue with Alex.
Even when he made her cry, a few sweet words from him would set everything right again.
Then her feelings for him grew, and she tried to keep her distance. Even when he pushed her buttons, she hesitated to confront him.
Yet somehow, he always tracked her down, soothing her until she was smiling again,
Things changed when Haley came into the picture. Though she and Alex were never a couple, they had countless arguments.
Yet after every fight, Alex would come looking for Ellie, acting as if nothing had happened, coaxing her back home.

Ellie thought to herself, ‘If he’s not really crazy, then he must be sick.

Suddenly, she was snapped back to reality by the entrance of Leonard, who had rushed in. Ellie realized dawn had broken. After confirming that she was unharmed, Leonard let out a sigh of relief.
His gaze landed on Alex, who lay next to her, completely unresponsive. Leonard’s instincts kicked in as a doctor; he quickly moved to check on Alex.
The sight of the gruesome injury on Alex’s chest made him pause. He noticed Alex gripping Ellie’s wrist even in his unconscious state, and his expression changed slightly.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a small–handled scalpel nearby, which sent a chill down his spine. He stared cautiously at Ellie.
