Declan and his wife, Gloria, sat in the center. Aaron was on Declan’s left, while on his right sat the eldest brother Patrick and his wife Winnie, along with the second brother Lucas, the third brother Mark, the fourth brother Joey, the fifth brother Tim, and the sixth brother Liam.
Diana sat on a couch with her seventh brother, Steven, by themselves.
At the entrance, the butler waited, while all the servants remained outside.
Winnie kept giving Diana knowing glances and said, “Hey, Diana are you and Mr. Thompson planning to announce your relationship?”
Before Diana could respond, Aaron quickly interjected, “I’m sorry! This is a misunderstanding; Diana and I aren’t what everyone thinks!”
Diana turned to Steven with a teasing smile and asked, “Steven, is it such a scandal to have a crush on me?”
Steven replied, “Come on, you’re beautiful and sweet. Whoever marries you will be set for life!”
Aaron fell silent.
Declan said firmly, “Aaron is my most talented student. You all better not bully him.”
Liam jumped in, “Don’t worry, Dad! We consider Mr. Thompson family. How could we ever bully him?”
This was Aaron’s first encounter with Diana’s brothers, and he really wanted to escape.
“Um, Professor, I have something to do. I’ll just head out first.” He stood up, bracing himself to speak.
Tim quickly stood up and urged, “Why not stay for dinner?”
“Food can be eaten anytime. If he has business to attend to, just let him go,” Diana said, pleased that Aaron was about to leave. In front of everyone, she pulled Aaron out of the reception room.
“You better agree to what I said, or I’ll hang your underwear from the flagpole at your workplace!” Diana warned playfully as she pushed Aaron out, not forgetting to issue her threat.
After sending Aaron off, all eyes turned to Diana.
Winnie said, “Take it easy, Diana. Aaron isn’t Alex; don’t scare him off.”
Steven posed a direct question, “Just say it straight. Do you think you can make it?”
Diana replied confidently, “I’ve already got what he values most; isn’t it just a matter of time before he comes around?”
Liam chimed in, “Diana, you have billions. A guy who’s willing to chase you won’t be that hard to find.”
Tim added, “Liam, just keep quiet for a bit. Diana could be even crazier than Alex sometimes. Who would even want her?”

Diana placed her hands on her hips in frustration, saying, “If Aaron marries me, it’ll be his blessing, got it?”
Tim shot back, “If Aaron, such a straight–laced guy, can handle you, he’ll have my greatest respect.”
Gloria interjected gently, “Aaron is a good kid. Don’t bully him, Diana.”
Diana looked up at her dad with an innocent expression.
Declan sighed, “What a waste of such a good student…”
Diana was rendered speechless.

Around 9 PM, Ellie waited for Aaron to come back but decided to head out alone to pick up Joanna from work.
At the bar’s entrance, she spotted Alex leaning against his car, smoking.
Dressed in a business suit with the collar unbuttoned, he wore an expensive watch on his wrist, but other than that, he had no accessories.
From a distance, he exuded an air of unshakeable tension, his usual cocky demeanor replaced by a touch of something more calculating.
Ellie ignored him and walked straight past Alex’s car.
“Always saying you’re going to give me a gift and that’s what you send?” Alex’s voice called out from behind, heavy with irritation. Ellie paused for a moment.
“If one isn’t enough, I can get you another!” she shot back, not bothering
to look back as she continued on her way.
Someone like Alex, who seemed to have no sense of propriety and would kiss anyone at any moment, was perfect for that kind of gift.
After Ellie left, Alex remained there, leaning against the car and smoking silently, watching her retreating figure grow smaller in the distance.
