Chapter 344
Sergio’s group hadn’t even had the chance to fight back when the police swooped in and subdued them.
Ellie stood frozen, feeling like she’d seen the man in military uniform before, but she was sure they had never met.
As the man stepped closer to Whitney, Ellie instinctively took a step back.
Whitney looked at the man, her vision blurring more and more. When their eyes locked, Whitney’s shocked expression broke the silence. “I thought I’d never see you again in this lifetime!”
Before she could finish, tears began to flow.
Jason, seemingly oblivious to everything else, pulled Whitney into his arms, his voice gentle and reassuring. “You risked everything for me; how could I let you lose?”
Ellie watched the two embrace, feeling a rush of emotions. She had known Whitney long enough to understand her story- how she had hidden her marriage from her family.
Ellie had heard in the bar that Whitney was waiting in this strange city for her husband to return. And now, here he was, finally back.
“Ellie,” Joanna approached, grasping Ellie’s hand. “Are you hurt?”
Ellie shook her head. “Mom, let’s move over there and not disturb them.”
Ellie tried to pull her mother away, but Joanna pushed her aside, stepping towards Whitney and Jason. Ellie hurried to follow.
Joanna hesitantly spoke, “You must be Jason, right?”
Jason Thompson let go of Whitney and scrutinized the woman standing before him. After a long moment, he finally recognized her. “Joanna!”
Ellie was completely stunned! Her mother had brought her right to the man she now had to call her uncle. So, Whitney’s husband was her uncle!
“Uncle!” Ellie choked out, her eyes welling with tears.
She blinked in astonishment as she took in Jason’s familiar features, noticing they bore a resemblance to her father. No wonder she felt a strange sense of recognition the first time she saw him.
If only her father were still around to see this moment! His only brother had returned safe and sound, not just back but bringing with him unmatched glory!
A few hours later, at the Thompson residence in the western suburbs of Jaslands, Aaron rushed over after receiving the address.
“Aaron! Your uncle is back!” Joanna exclaimed, pulling him toward Jason.
As Aaron took in the sight of the man in military uniform, his eyes welled up with emotion. “Uncle!”

Chapter 344
Jason gazed at his only nephew, pride shining in his eyes.
“My goodness, where did this handsome man come from?” Diana asked, parking her car and hurrying inside. She stopped short when she saw the two large men embracing each other, both shedding tears.

Curious, she circled around the uncle–nephew duo several times before forcibly separating them. “Wait a minute, two grown men hugging like that isn’t exactly appropriate.”
Upon hearing Ellie refer to him as uncle, Diana’s jaw dropped in shock. “Uncle?!”
“He’s my uncle!” Aaron confirmed with a grin.
“Same thing!” Diana chirped back.
She pushed Aaron aside and walked right up to Jason, her eyes wide with admiration. “Wow, you’re really handsome!”
Jason turned to Aaron. “Aaron, aren’t you going to introduce us?”
“Um, Uncle, this is Diana, my teacher’s daughter,” Aaron replied sheepishly.
He tugged on Diana’s bag, pulling her back a bit. “You didn’t drink tonight, so drive yourself home, okay?”
“I’m not leaving! Wherever Ellie goes, I’m going too,” Diana declared stubbornly.
Diana nudged Aaron aside and flopped down next to Ellie, eagerly whispering, “I can’t believe your uncle has such a high rank! The Thompson family produced a general–oh my gosh! You hit the jackpot, girl! From now on, you’d better look out for me in Jaslands!”
Ellie just rolled her eyes, speechless.
