He cautiously took a step closer and said in a barely audible voice, “We’ve crossed that line. Whoever you’re with now doesn’t matter. Just give me one chance, and I promise I’ll listen to whatever you say from now on.”
Ellie snatched the medical report back from Alex’s hands and took a bold step towards him. She tilted her head back, meeting his gaze directly. “You must be dreaming!” She spat out the words coldly.
Alex’s chest heaved as he spun in frustration, feeling helpless. “You’re really not giving me a chance?!”
Ellie shot back, “Go home and sleep! In your dreams, you can have whatever you want!” She turned to leave, but before she could fully walk away!
But he only got three steps before he turned back again! Pointing at himself, he exclaimed, “I was perfectly fine in my room until you barged in and messed everything up!” He added heatedly, “You can’t just ignore it like it’s nothing! Do you think I’m some cheap throwaway?”
Alex continued, “Every time I try to say something, you cut me off. Are you trying to smother me until I can’t breathe?”
Ellie shot back, “At least if you were dead, someone would organize your funeral! With your attitude, you’ll have a hard time planning a wedding, that’s for sure!”
Alex stood there, mouth agape, his lips moving but no sound coming out!
“Ellie, I swear-” he tried to talk but got so worked up he turned around in frustration again! Just a few steps later, he turned back!
This time, Ellie wasn’t waiting for him. Watching her walk away, Alex felt his head spin with anger!
In the next moment, he smacked his own face, muttering, “Why did I have to say that?”
Nearby, Barry watched his boss lose his composure–not only cursing himself but also slapping his own face–and quickly hopped into the passenger seat, buckling his seatbelt in a hurry.

As evening fell, Aaron finished his work and was leaving the employee corridor with a few colleagues. From a distance, he spotted Alex waiting for him by the entrance. Aaron pretended not to see him and headed straight for his car.
“Aaron!” Just as Aaron was opening the car door and about to step in, Alex rushed over like a dog after its owner, pulling Aaron out of the car.
The two locked eyes, and Alex quickly let go. “Uh, I need to talk to you about something.”
Aaron sighed, “I’m not interested.”
“Just for a minute,” Alex insisted.
“Not even a minute!” Aaron shot back.
“Aaron?!”
“Please, call me Mr. Thompson.”
“C’mon, bro.”

Chapter 367
Aaron frowned. “I’m not your bro.”
“You are the big brother of Ellic, so that makes you my bro!”
“Ahem, Alex, are you planning to mooch off my sister?”
“Hey, if you say it’s mooching, then fine! But no matter how you slice it, Ellie and I are already involved. As her older brother, why don’t you talk her into dating me? I promise I won’t mess it up.”
“With you?” Aaron raised an eyebrow.
Alex’s voice dropped to a whisper as he continued, “I want to marry her and build a life together.”
“Alex, it’s not even dark outside yet?” Aaron replied, then quickly got into his car and drove off.
Desperate, Alex shouted at the disappearing car, “What do you mean?!”
Behind him, Barry awkwardly chimed in, “What Mr. Thompson means is that since it’s still light out, Alex, you’re already daydreaming.”
Alex turned to Barry, his face as dark as a storm cloud, his brows twitching in annoyance. “You’re just so smart, aren’t you?”
Barry stayed silent, unsure how to respond.
