That night, Alex came home, dragging his tired body without a word. He went straight upstairs without touching food or
drink.
Nancy walked out of their room with her husband, Todd, and they stood side by side at the foot of the stairs, looking worried.
“This little brat of ours might not be human right now, but he’s still our only son. The way things are at home, it’s a mess. As long as we don’t sort this out, we won’t have a moment of peace.
“Ellie can see right through this little punk. They’ve reached this point, and he still won’t take her back.
“Even if he kneels at the entrance of the mansion, it won’t bring his wife back. Honey, you need to go talk to him, give him some advice,” Nancy urged, giving Todd a gentle push towards the stairs.
The couple made their way to their son’s room. Nancy peeked inside, relieved to see that the silicone doll she had been worried about was missing. “Okay, you’re safe to go in,” she said to Todd.
“What the hell?!” Todd shouted, pointing at a white cartoon doll lying on Alex’s bed. “A grown man has this thing on his bed? What would people say if they found out?”
Nancy glanced at the cartoon doll on the bedside and sighed. “That doll belongs to Ellie. Your son couldn’t keep her, so he’s stuck with this toy instead.”

As she was pondering this, a sudden gasp came from behind! Then there was a loud thud, startling Nancy as she quickly turned around!
Her eyes widened in horror as she saw Todd, looking like he’d seen a ghost, fall to the floor. His knee smacked against the bedside, and the pain made his face turn pale.
“What was that noise?”
She rushed over to help Todd sit on the edge of Alex’s bed. Just as Todd sat down, another gasp echoed through the room! Both of them instinctively recoiled!
Nancy stared at the slightly raised blankets, her mouth twitching. Following her gaze, Todd finally saw what was wrong. Ignoring Nancy’s warnings, he boldly tossed the covers aside!
There lay a neatly groomed silicone doll, dressed properly, side by side on his son’s bed. Todd’s vision dimmed, and he nearly fainted!
Just then, Alex emerged from the bathroom, drenched and wrapped in a bathrobe. Seeing his parents gawking at the doll that Ellie had given him, Alex rushed forward to cover it back up!
“Mom, Dad, could you respect someone’s privacy for once?!” he said, his face dark with embarrassment as he draped the blanket over the doll.
Todd regained his composure and raised a hand to smack him. “You little brat! Do you even have the right to talk about privacy?!”

Nancy sat cross–legged on the bed, her hair a mess, trying to calm him down. “Honey, think about it. Alex is not a kid anymore. Look around; all his friends are settling down.
“No woman wants him with this attitude. He’s probably gotten so desperate that he thinks keeping a fake is better than messing around out there and getting caught up in something bad.”
Todd lay straight on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
