her tears.
A few minutes later, in the small park beneath the hospital ward Ellie’s mood had settled a lot. As she watched Alex come closer step by step, Ellie spoke coldly, “Stop right there.” At her words, Alex came to a halt.
In a corner of the hospital’s inpatient garden, as evening fell, they looked at each other. Alex met Ellie’s aloof gaze seemed to push him far away, yet he moved towards her again.

“Stop!” Ellie warned again, but Alex didn’t obey. He took two steps forward, caught her wrist, and pulled her towards him. Ignoring Ellie’s attempts to break free, he turned her around and held her tightly from behind.
His grip on Ellie’s arm tightened unconsciously, his breath quick and close against her back. He was afraid of seeing her cold gaze again.
Alex rested his head in the crook of Ellie’s neck and closed his eyes. “I admit I made a huge mistake before. I know I was wrong. Please give me a chance to fix things!”
Alex said, “Ellie, I’m not who you think. I want to make it up, to keep you with me, and to have a good life together. There was a time I thought about letting you go, but I can’t bring myself to do it!”
